diy bead locks

Im going to put some bead locks on some wheels and my question is do I need to use 1/4" or can I use 3/16? The reason I am asking is I have access to a water jet and I can get them cut out for pretty much nothing and I already have a sheet of 3/16 plate and I would like to use it if I could. What do you think can I use 3/16 or do I need to use 1/4" thanks
 
I don't see a problem with 3/16 and of you google "3/16 beadlock ring" you'll see that other companies sell them. I had some 1/4 and they were admittedly overkill for their intended purpose. The real question is: can you make me some ;)
