I'm looking to build a clubhouse in the backyard for my kids this summer and was wondering if anybody has recently done something similar.

Seems easy enough but I'm wondering if anybody has any cool ideas or plans with some things that would make it just that much better & more fun.

I might add some kind of a swing onto the side as well. Fun ideas welcome!

That would be awesome! I guess I should post that my backyard is quite small so the club house needs to be kinda small as well. But I want to get as creative as I can with it. I was thinking like a miniature garage/shop on the side of it. :D

I was going to Ikea the other day, and as I got off the freeway, there is a home building supplies place that has two brightly painted playhouses in their lot. They look like something from Beetlejuice, because there are no 90 degree angles in the whole thing. All crazy angles, but it has all the usual parts, windows, white trim, shingles. Looked pretty cool.
Other than that, I suggest making it several stories tall, and adding a slide or zipline or fire pole escape. :)

I bought a 4x8 sheet of FRP from a company that sold cement forms and bolted some climbing holds to it and attached it to the side of ours. The kids loved climbing it. I got the hand holds from Black Diamond in Ogden.

I made ours big enough that I could sleep in it if my personality got in the way. Actually, my kids and slept in it often in the summer.

My neighbor used to have a zip line. It ran from the back yard through a gate in the fence to the front yard. Had to make sure the gate was open first! :)
