Do all Dana 60 covers interchange?

Do all Dana 60 diff covers interchange?

Specifically, do the older 60 covers fit the newer Super Duty front 60s and vise-versa?

Yes they are all the same except of course the dynatrac pro rock 60

The housing on the super duty D60's extend further forward and so come with a shallower cover. The SD cover will hit the ring gear on other housings. The other covers will fit the SD's, but the steering linkage will probably rub. If I remember correctly, the SD cover is about 1" shallower.

I just noticed that some manufacturers sell a Super Duty specific diff cover and it got me thinking about the differences. The one I was looking at was Ballistic. I think it is a lower profile cover than the typical D60 options, maybe?

That makes sense. I am running 1.5" AL tie rod in the stock location and I am concerned that it will rub with an aftermarket cover.

I ran a superduty cover on a regular dana 60 and it never hit the ring gear...... I know they are shallower to clear the steering but it never hit my regular 60 ring gear

I think I heard somewhere too that D60 covers fit D70's? I think when my brother had his FJ40 (now Jinxspots) he ordered two D60 covers from GreatLakesOffroad and that went on his D60 front and D70 rear.

The one thing you can be sure of with dana axles is that there is always something different out there. I'm sure a blanket statement of all dana 60 covers will fit other 60s is surely to be proven wrong.

No, they will all fit. Just maybe not very well

Don't forget the weird 60 that came in the rear of some chevy vans that had 12 bolts in the diff cover. Dana is consistently inconsistent?

The cover on the superduty 60, that I turned into a rear, definitely would not fit normal 60's. I tried. It hit the gear.

Not that I know of. There is a feller on pirate that has one in his jeep. Can't remember the build off hand though
