Does it matter wether or not the rear shocks are upside down or right side up? and which way is better. Reason being is because I am making some different shock mounts and though about putting them upside down.

Gas... they can be mounted either way...

Rancho does recomend that the 9000's be mounted in a particlular direction because of their valving but I have seen the mounted bothe ways with no problems.

Thanks. so another question then. if I change the stock mounts from the spring plates to welding a piece of angle iron closer to the diff, then another piece up on the frame round crossmember. Does that provide more travel for shorter shocks?

Have you ever seen one go bad because of it? I have a freind that mounted the RS9000 upside down five years ago... they still perform flawlessly, I think it is just a way for them to screw you on the warranty... if your seals did start leaking then they would tell you no warranty...

What about Doesch Techs (sp)? Do they recommend a mounting direction?

So what would you recomend for RS5000 in the rear with custom mounts that are a little angled in at the top. Kindof like budbuilts but not so close together at the top?

I had a friend that ran the Rancho 5000's inverted and they made some awful noises.....he had to flip them so that the rod was up for them to be quiet and work right.......
