Dome lamp on in TJ with the doors off... fix other than pulling fuses?

So my dome lamps are on in the TJ now that my wife pulled the doors. Is there a secret switch you flip or something to disable the dome lamps being on due to an open door? I can pull the fuse, but it would be nice to still be able to turn on the dome lamps manually at night.

Thanks guys,
Jared

you still will be abel to turn the dome light on and off manually. they do sell a switch you can install and also some spring retainer clips that go on the door switch, but i think its easier and cheaper just to pull the fuse!!!

you can also just unhook the door switch...you should be able to turn on the lamps that way. I have mine unhooked and I can still turn on the interior lamps (no hard top)

just take the switches out and put them in the glove box when you put the doors back on they just push in and work fine

Chad is correct. I found no mention on how to disable the door switches in the owner's manual. However, there is a fuse labeled "Door Switch Defeat" - as chad said it is fuse #4, the lower right fuse in the panel behind the glove box. Apparently it's only purpose is to disable the door switches, because the headlamp switch still turns on the dome lamp.

It kind of seems like something that they'd want to mention in the owner's manual, don't you think?

Thanks all,
Jared

no they don't want you in that fuse box thats the one they hide to make the money off you. plus it has the fuse to disable the airbags.
