DO'S and Don't On a Toyota Build

So I have a freind wanting to build a 4 cylinder IFS toyota. Where to start and hints and tips. First of all 35's a must solid axle, high steer. What else all you toyota guys chime in.

i have a solid front axle from an 85 toy truck. the only catch is you have to buy the truck too.

Marlin Crawler or some type of dual transfer case setup has to be up there on the list. If he does it when he does the solid axle swap it will save him having to do drivelines twice. Then of course gears and lockers.

Its a toyota so you don't have to replace much. I'd just wheel it a whole bunch of times and figure out what you think is needed. A low profile transfer case cross member is nice and some rock sliders are good. Otherwise it sounds like you already have most the bases covered. What are you thinking for suspension?

Probably a leaf spring setup and the SAS swap. I think about a 4 inch spring.

That sounds like a good height. Junkyard springs are cheap and easy to set up for custom stuff. Otherwise buy marlin springs. Oh yeah, I forgot: You probably want to replace the plastic timing chain guides with metal backed ones.

if money is no issue then do the high steer, if it is then save the money and just build an arm and put the money into hydro assist. Ive done it on 2 and never have a problem with the low arm, but the hydro assist is priceless.
