Have you BEEN to So Cal lately? That might not be a bad trade! :D

But seriously, the wackos in California (and New York) cause most of the stupid laws and trends the rest of the US has to deal with on a daily basis. California is doing it, it must be right! :rolleyes:

About the first part... Yes I was there on business for the last 9 months, and I agree.

But aside of all of the wacko's, we (USA) cannot survive as is w/o SoCal. I am sure Greg could attest to this also. I know first hand that 85% of all goods that come into and go out of America go thru the Long Beach ship yard. If that didn't exist due to some unforseen or forseen reason. Imagine the impact that would have. If they have no income as a person, they pay no tax, therefore the welfare system would suck even more and you know who ( National Gov.) would have to step in. Yeah, thats us. Unfortunatly, we as the U.S. can support every other country in the world, but we couldn't support California if need be. :rofl:

This has been on the river and canyon lovers minds for years. They have tried many times to get it into the courts and lost.
Those who think you would be able to go play in it plan on either getting your rafting license or hiking for miles they would make it WSA immediately.
I heard about the Grand Canyon Dam project also, that would be a shame! I love running the Grand, some of the greatest rapids in the world.
Should they drain it no, the damage is done. Let people play and live off of it.

No one's gonna drain it, and it would probably be a bad deal if they did. I just think it would be kind of cool to have the canyon back, and yes I know it won't be the same and it's filled with silt and all that.

But if wishes were pigs I'd be flush with bacon, so..... anyway.

WHAT?????? Drain it

I say all who think it should be drained, should be required to clean up the mess. Go ahead drain it then spend the next 10 years of your life cleaning up al the silt, sh!t, bodies, batteries and whatever other disgusting things lie at the bottom of that lake. :eek:

It would probably take longer than ten years to clean it up, it would take that long or longer just to have all the mud dry up.....Think about how deep that mud has to be at the bottom :eek:
Anyway....DRAIN=BAD

What about the clean power we get from the dam?
If we drain it we will need to build replacement power sources. Coal burning is far more unpleasant than a lake. There are people fighting wind power also look at Cape Cod or Spanish Fork Canyon.

What about clean water?
Water from Powell and Mead water SoCal and Las Vegas not to mention a lot of the most fertile land in the world. Where would we produce food?

Is it sad that we lost a beautiful canyon? Yes but life is full of trade offs.
