I'm seriously considering buying an unlimited. It has more room, is bigger, more stable, and could serve the purpose as being my only car vs having two cars. Also looking for one that has at least 35s, long arms, etc. just want to make sure it rides great and has enough power but gets decent milage (my old tj had 37s, 4.88s and got 13mpg).

However, I am curious how well do they wheel?

Anyone ever been 4x4n with one?

please advise because I had a built actually decked out TJ and I sold it. thought I was getting out of 4x4n but now I want back in. I have an Audi S4 and it just doesn't do it, gosh all I can do with it is drive, my dog doesn't go with me because its way to luxurious for him now I'm after something else where we can go together but could serve as a multi purpose vehicle (sorta like a cherokee).

My brother has an Unlimted Rubicon. I saw it perform for the first time over Memorial Day weekend in Moab. It did really well. It was only on 33's, so it dragged its skidplate a lot more than a TJ, but that can be fixed with taller tires and/or a flat skid/tummy tuck. He loves how much room is has in the back for storage and how the extra wheelbase keeps him more stable. If I had the money, I'd get one.

I own a Rubi/unlimited, bone stock minus the quick disconnects, bumpers, and rails that I built. I've had it on Cliff hanger, Hell's Revenge, Metal Masher, Poisen Spider, and Fins in Things and I didn't have a problem at all. IN fact I made it clear to Mirror Gultch on metal Masher and almost through it in only 2High. I didn't drag the belly hardly at all. It's just a matter of taking different angles. Plently of room in it as well. Don't go looking for good gas mileage though because whether I have the hard top on, off, soft top on or off, it gets around 13.4 mpg. I would say overall it's not quite up to the capability of my Passport yet but then again I don't have $12,000 dumped into it either. Personally I see no reason to have to go to Long arms and 35's unless you plan on running 5.0 rated trails. Put a RE superflex 3.5, stick 33"s under it and it will go anywhere 4.5 or less. Correction, I didn't attempt Kenny's Climb becuase I thought I might get hun up and more than likely would have.

I've had 3 TJ's and an Unlimited. Mine was a 2004, auto, 4.5" RockKrawler long-arm, 35" MTR's. I did a bunch of trails in Moab and thought it was great. Everything you mentioned is true, came down Pritchett and didn't touch anything. The extra room is huge in my book, and the daily driving part is nicer in my opinion than a TJ.

I sold mine after a year (career change, needed something with 4-doors), it's in the Truck Trader right now for $21,500 (guy who bought it from me, not mine anymore). It was a great rig, wish I had kept it. I'll get another one, unless I get the new 4-door next year.
