Exhaust

I'm looking for a good muffler shop, anyone want to recommend one? Also, my Jeepster runs the Dauntless 6V and I don't want it to sound like a rice burner. I'm running the stock exhaust manifolds and would kinda like a little sound out of it. Any suggestions on a good muffler? If I just can't get away from the rice burner noise, I will just stick with a good quite muffler.

Input?

Kent's muffler and brake down in Draper is a good shop.

they are straight forward about what they can and can't do and picky about how their work turns out.

Shawn, are we talking about the little buick v6's that came stock in 60's jeeps? If so, I put one of those in a datsun 4x4 I had years ago. Put glass packs on it and it did'nt sound anything like a rice burner. Nice low pitch. Man they were great little motors.

I just put a magnaflow on my 2.5L YJ. I was hoping it wouldn't be really loud inside the cab, I think it's actually quieter. Also installed a K&N, Now I can cruise on the freeway in 5th w/o downshifting, peppier off the line, much quicker throttle response, revs higher, has a healthy growl to it when you get on it, doesnt sound ricey. better milage, muffler is only 4" tall, tucks up very nicely, very solid full welded weighs like 14 pounds, lifetime warranty.............

it's just a better muffler, but I dont know if you want to spend $60 on ebay or ~$100 at a local shop...

honestly, like I have said before, Master Muffler in Kearns was by far the cheapest and I was way happy witht heir work. To give you an idea how much cheaper they were, I got aluminized tubing form them for cheaper than anyone else could do with just regular tubing. approx half of what most the other shops wanted to charge me. On top of that if you go to their website they have a 10% off coupon...

I did call them.... I would tell you how much they wanted, but it would scare you so bad the you would be impatient for a week.

These guys have done 3 of my rigs before including twice to the Cruiser. I was hoping for someone a little closer.

Thanks, caleb I will go see them.

I need a "Y" tube.... :-\
MAke one. You can have the header ends flanged by a Muffler shop and then make the rest by yourself. I've had the shop over by PEP Boys do that for me a couple of times.

After dragging my buggy around the valley all day getting quotes I was pretty sure I was going to just do it myself. All the shops wanted anywhere from $500-$1000 because it was all so tight and such a PITA. On my way back home I stopped at Master Muffler in Kearns just for the heck of it and it was on my way home, when he said he could do it for just a little over $200 w/aluminized tubing (and that included a custom made Y tube also) I decided it wasn't worth the work to do it myself. FWIW ;)

The muffler I went with Shawn was just called a turbo muffler (dont ask me why) but it gives my 4.3L V6 a nice deep throaty sound...and its not real loud which, IMO, is nice. It is a little bit big but fits my buggy just fine.

I have ran the turbos from them before and they do sound nice.

I'm going to try the Flowmaster 50.

MAIN STREET MUFFLER (part 2)

Well, Bryson did infact have take Bart's buggy back to rework a few things, but they were really cool about it. Considering the tight/complex work that needed to be done, I still feel that they should be considered as a good option.
