Fab Shops

What are some good fabs shops in the SLC valley? I've heard Ben Hanks is either closing or already closed and most of the shops around are for putting on bolt on kits like Jack-It or 4wheelparts. There is Teraflex but that is if you own a Jeep. I've been to a few smaller shops that misquoted prices and not happy with the results so I'm looking for recommendations of shops that build bumpers, sliders, etc. Thanks

well I've been known to build a bumper or slider or two, or you could try Tyler at Rollover motorsports.

for a tacoma though you'd be cheaper to buy a set online and have the minimal fab done to make them fit.

Thanks for all the replys. I think this would be great info for others as well since there use to be quite a few shops years back and now it seems they are few and far between.

I fully agree and to be honest Iv worked for most of them. I want to make this a positive experience for everybody. Im happy to help in anyway like Iv said before. There has just been alot of negative experiences in the past that people have had and I want everybody to look at this sport more positively. Sometimes things happen but its how you deal with it that makes or breaks the deal.:D

Ben Hanks is a great guy and has lots of talent. I worked for him in the past. We had many fun times and great trips. Learned alot at his shop. I talk to him quite a bit. He has just gotten burned out with the sport. As far as I know he is still open just not taking on any small jobs right now due to the economy. Its nearly impossible for a State of the art fabrication shop to survive in these economic times. That is why I have chosen to help out. My shop specializes in automotive repair, but we also have the tools, ability, knowledge and integrity to perform custom fabrication.

That's really neat Casey! An established business doing some stuff on the side is a great (safe) way to be in the industry IMO

Brandon at Sky's Extreme in Clearfield UT SXOR does custom stuff for all types of applications including Government tactical buggies.

OTB Off the Back fab in Ogden, UT has a nice plasma table and will burn parts super cheap if you email DXF files ahead. They do fabbing as well, small shop, one man show.

Lakes Fabrication, Owner Dekon. Layton, UT Him and his son have a small shop and do great fab work. Mostly hot rod stuff and rhino cages for manufacturers by the quantity.

Depends, I could list many people that would get the job done right and in a timely manner. I avoid people that take their sweet A$$ time and quote you wrong.

I even do fab work for people, but like to work on my own things. Funny thing is that I have nicer tooling than alot of shops in UT.

If you want dimple die holes everywhere and clean plasma or laser parts, TIG, custom DXF drawn for your application, well hard to say. I know Ben Hanks did some good work and had the correct tooling, actually they were the only oneS I knew that had their crap together in the quality department for Northern UT.

Sexton Offroad in Kamas has a nice shop.

Sure others will chime in and update you with many others out there. One thing to look for in a shop is that it competes or is in a race circuit, having history in the offroad department...

So I had Casey work on a few things I needed done before the Jeep Safari and he did an excellent job so I figured I would post some pics of his work. His pricing was fair and was the only shop, except for the original Rock Logic, that didn't charge me more than what they quoted. Thanks everyone for all the replies on all the shops. There were only a few in the SLC valley, which I needed for logistics problems, and I would recommend Richins to everyone. They are also a great bunch of guys if you need any auto repair. I hope this thread will help others in need of a fab shop. I had him fit some AllPro sliders I picked up from Rockyota and fix a rear bumper that I wasn't completely happy with.

I plan on having him make a roll bar for the bed during the summer.

Casey is a Metal Artist! He has been helping me with the Dirty Chevy Blazer, boxing the frame. We will be moving on to a new cage, bumpers and sliders.
