There is a moral to this story... please read!!
Well... since I only have my girls a day and a half a week... I took them up to Old Powderhorn Ski area on the side of Grand Mesa. For those of you up in Utahville, this is about 30 or so minutes outside of Grand Junction on the north side of that big blue thing to the east! Also, since my truck is out of commission, I was forced to take a not so offroad worthy vehicle..... (darn, it really was fun through that winding canyon road though!!!
)
The colors were a little past peak in some spots and not quite to peak in others. But we had a blast! It is always priceless taking your kids out into nature and showing them things and teaching them! I even got to show them what bear tracks look like! Oh yeah... and I think I have a couple future photographers on my hands!!!
So go ahead and flame me if you want to for not driving a 4x4 to go take a color trip, but our biggest plan and success here was spending quality time of just me and my girls!!!
<---- this is how our faces looked at the end of the day! They watched
Madagascar 2 on the way up (never fell asleep), then watched
The Secret of Nimh on the way back home (again never slept.. major shocker!!) They had the biggest smiles on their faces! Then when I tucked Kyra into bed, she was already alseep, but she woke up and said to me, "Daddy, could you please get me my cup of ice water? And Daddy... I had so much fun today, I love you so much!!" Then when I brought her cup of ice water back up she looked up at me, with the
Smurfs playing in the background, and said, "Daddy, I love being with you, we have fun! Please don't make me go back!!"
This is my almost 4 year old!!! How much does that melt your heart when your baby girl says that to you??? Dads out there??
How tough is that??
Moral of the story.... Love every moment you have and live it up!!! Enjoy the beautiful colors and take them in like there is no tomorrow!!!!!
