It's that time of year!!
We left Grand Junction and headed to a favorite road, Kebler Pass. The colors up on Kebler were odd, some trees were still very green, others were barren... I've heard that a lot of rain before Fall will make the color change pretty pathetic. From what I saw, there were still some good colors, but they were more sporadic in some locations than usual.
After Kebler Pass, we drove thru Crested Butte and then headed up towards Taylor Reservoir and the start of Tincup Pass. The town of Tincup was pretty neat, looks like most folks that live in town use the homes as a Summer vacation place... pretty sure Winters are brutal up there! The trail up Tincup Pass was pretty rocky and challenging in a few places, we aired the tires down to the high-teens and started the climb. Low range was used and on a couple optional lines, both lockers were engaged and we even managed to get tires of the ground a couple times.
Mirror Lake... not much of a reflection today!
We stayed the night in Salida, CO. The next morning we headed up to the Old Monarch Pass, which had some amazing colors and trees that were currently dropping leaves!
Love this one, with the leaves caught in the act!
From there we headed up Waunita Pass, then over Cumberland Pass... with ever better colors!
Decided to get all fancy with the Macro settings...
