Good of you to ask instead of just trying it. I went up a road on the north side of those of few years back that someone told me it was open when in fact it wasn't and when leaving I was met by 2 kenecott security guards, 2 UHP's and a DNR waiting for me. Not fun.

:eek2: were you on the kennecott side?

Ya, its all the kennecott side out there. I have heard that they don't car about the tooele side of the mountain, like east of lake point and there are some dirt trails out there. My wifes grandpa puts his honey bees up there towards Farnsworth peak. I can ask him if he gets permission or if its open.

that would be great.

judging by what wikipedia says
owned by nearby Kennecott Land.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farnsworth_Peak#cite_note-1 On the eastern side of the mountain, the land is completely private, and access is restricted. The peak can be reached via hiking from the Tooele side, which is also mostly privately owned land.
this trip my not happen. i want to go up there, looks like a fun ride even if its just a dirt road.:squint:

There's not really a way to get there from the Tooele side other thn hiking... and as stated, you do cross private land.... looking into permissions shortly here... will post info.

Good luck w/Kennecott. I called to try and secure permission to hike in and paint from various locations along the ridge, no go. It was hinted that no one would be looking for me if I went anyway, but I wouldn't expect that to hold up in court, at all.

I may have better luck with some of the private landholders on this side, working on getting the wheels greased by the old-timers here, who know everyone and their entire family histories. :D

ok.. KC's rule a few years ago was the first time they catch you (as long as you are just looking around and not breaking crap or stealing crap) they would escort you off the mountain and take your information and put it into their computer. the Second time they would press charges...

been up there from the slc side but we had keys and permision.
