Going to head down next weekend with my wife and was wondering where everyone likes to camp that isn't in a KOA type campground in town. Any advice is appreciated. Sand flats isn't really my cup of tea.

Which weekend are you going down? If Memorial weekend then you likely will not find much unless you have a reservation or go down to the end of Potash Road or Kane Creek Rd. We will be there May 16-25th.

22nd thru the 24th. I didn't even realize it was Memorial weekend.

What trails are you planning to run?

Kane Creek now has designated camping sites that typically fill up pretty quick. Hurrah Pass has a few spots that would be good to camp at. Provided they aren't already taken. As others have stated the further you venture out the better the spots get. The South section of Lockhart basin is my favorite spot but it is pretty far down from Moab. Probably some of the best scenery though. That and Lockhart Basin is a fun trail. Other then that I typically just pull off along Yellowcat or Dome Plateau.
