Looking for some car camping spots. These can be regular campgrounds or pull off the road locations. Just looking for a new area.

Has any one been to blacksmith fork canyon up north?

Quite a few times. I've not camped there in the past 15 years or so, though. There used to be ALL kinds of spots to just pull off up there. I was up there around Mem. day and there were still a few traditional pull-off spots on the way up.

You can get a car down in Buckhorn Draw of the San Rafael swell....as long as it doens't rain like crazy. Lots of prime camping down there.

Yeah I go to Mirror Lake highway couple times a year, great campsites and fishing. Stillwater campground used to be real fun but gets a lot of people and they cut down a ton of trees this year due to pine beetle. But All the others campsites up the road are still in great shape.

AF Canyon at Granite Flats is nice and has water and bathrooms.
I've had good times at Payson Lakes over the years.
Also in AF Canyon up above Silver Lake (across the stream) and on the road down to Cascade Springs has a few nice spots. No water or pottys.

Just stayed at Willow Flats on the Cub River last week (Just south of Preston). It was pretty nice. Sites are right on the river which is slow and shollow - great for the kids. Brought the Ranger and put about 150 miles on it in three days. Was able to drive to St. Charles and Bever Mountain. Pretty cool area.

Payson Lakes is fun till you get booted out in the middle of the night due to a fire 8 miles away.

Timpooneke Flats, directly under the front of Mount Timpanogos overlooking Ut Valley. You access the flats by way of AF Canyon, then up the Alpine Loop and turn right at the sign for Timpooneke Flats. It's a long gravel road, but well worth the time driving! We got a 2wd Mazda truck up there and a minivan too! It's a pretty quiet area, somewhat remote and there's no improved camping. Find a spot under the Aspens and enjoy!

I don't know why but I always love camping up AFC. I think it's cause I can get up into the "trees" in only a few minutes. I'd like to try Greg's suggestion of Timpooneke Flats
