First Moab Trip

I am heading to moab for my first time next weekend! what trails do you suggest for a jeep wrangler that is not too built up? I am looking for a little bit of a challenge but nothing too hard because i am still kind of new too it!

We will be down there also. Start with Fins N' Things and then Hell's Revenge if you can do everything on Fins without much problems.

I would suggest the same. Great way to get started and see what you can't and can't do on the slick rock.

metal masher is a good beginner trail. Probably have someone with you that knows the area though, as routefinding can get a little trickiy back there.

Routefinding is not an issue here. All backcountry roads are black from all the tires on the rocks, in most cases the painted marks are no longer visible at all. Some places are braided because of all the tourists and newbies who are afraid to go over a little rock or through a small mudpuddle.

Rocker clearance might be an issue in a few spots..... but that's a good trail, great views!

Hmmm having flashbacks of Strike Ravine for some reason... We had a GPS and the first half of the trail was spent saying it's the other way.

My suggestion would also be Fins & Things. My advice would be to do the first section and the last section. The middle section is boring, too much dirt and sage brush. The first and last sections are in the slick rock which is what I am assuming you are going for. Hells Revenge will also be fun for you. While you are driving to Fins & Things, go a head and go up Little Lions Back for fun.

Poison Spider Mesa may be fun, I did it in my TJ with open diffs the first time. Its a little scarier at first but is manageable. The middle section is a lot of fun with ledges.

Go into any of the gas stations and buy a book of all the Jeep Trails. I believe it is written by Charles Wells and he has a new one out. Well worth the $10 or $15 plus it has GPS settings for trailheads, obstacles, etc..
