How many of you fish? What do you fish for? Where do you like to go? Got any stories? Fly or Spin cast? Lake, stream, river, ocean, or? Any place that you'd tell someone to fish before they die? blah blah blah...

I've been fishing a lot lately with really good results, and have been really enjoying it (makes me feel young again ). I really want to get a canoe or a pontoon boat, but don't quite know what I want yet... Any Ideas? I like the fact that more than one person fits in the canoe but....

I love to fish, mostly lakes. I am learning how to fly fish, I bought a cheap setup and will probably spring for something better in the next year or so. For me it's more a time to be out in nature with my dad, and now that I have a son, I hope we will do the same when he gets older. My wife HATES fish with a passion so if I want to eat what I catch, it's gotta be there on the shore, or on the grill the day I bring it home.

I love fishing, did a LOT last year & haven't been out yet this year. :( We have a favorite canyon that's a few hrs away. Getting in there is tricky, but the fishing is well worth it. We'll be heading up there again soon. I use spinners and Rapala's, usually the fish are biting on one or the other. If the fish are surfacing, I'll tie a fly on the end of 6' of leader with a spinner & a bubble for a poor-mans fly rod! With that setup I was nailing the crap out of the rainbows on a small river in the CO mountains last year. I also want to buy a canoe to access the lakes!

I just went today. Mostly lakes, I float tube a lot catching large mouth bass using carolina rigs set up with plastic worms etc. and also trout with tried and proved worms and powerbait. Some of my best trips were to lake mead catching striped bass. I'm hopefully going to alaska next summer.

Our family is totally addicted to fishing. We have been up to the Gorge three times this year and have had a blast catching bass, macs, rainbows and kokanie. I even got one of those ugly burbots this winter up there. I hooked into a really big mac near where muleskinners pictures were taken but he got off before I got it all the way up. We also have hit the uintas quite a few times this year and have caught some nice brookies. When I'm on the Gorge or Strawberry we use our 17 foot fishing boat. On the Uinta lakes we like to use our pontoon boats. I have a Bucks Bag Bronco and the wife and son have the southfork model. If you need some ideas send me a PM.

You guy's are great, and thanks for the pics!

For the most part I fish for pan fish, Tiger Muskie, Walleye, and Channel Cat. I like fishing the Cub river up here in Northern UT, and Southern ID the veriety of fish here is incredible. Greg it's funny that you should mention a spot that's "tricky" to get into. Places like that (I know a few) are by far my favorite because it means that there are far less people! :D

Flaming Gorge sounds like a blast, and muleskinner those fish are impressive! I've heard stories about the Burbot there. Supposibly your supposed to kill any you catch not because they are trash fish, but because they kill the other game fish.... Kind of interesting.

stripeshirtman that's great that your moving to Logan, and we'll definatly have to plan some fishing and also wheelin' trips soon. As far as fishing Logan's great for the variety of fish, and places to fish.

One of my goals in life is to fish AK, and a couple of my buddies are headed up in July next year, and want me to tag along. They say AK fishing (or anything else up there for that matter) is like EJS in Moab, It's "worth quitting your job over" just to go!....

Anyway I'm torn between a canoe, pontoon boat, or (now) a small Jon boat. Either way I can't loose right? Keep the stories coming!

I am a Fly Fisher, but am willing to concede the need to use spinners in lakes and the ocean.

If you enjoy Fly Fishing, and have access to a drift boat, or want to hire a guide, the Madison River and South fork of the Snake are great.
The A section of the Green is good if you do it early in the season before all the kids start floating it.

Alaska is always great.
I highly recommend floating the Kenai River during steelhead season.
Fantastic.

If you are back east, there are a bunch of Salmon AND Steelhead runs from the great lakes.

If you are not into spending a lot of $$$ on trips, find a good local river and go fish it.
In SLC we all live less than an hour from numerous great rivers. I've had a lot of fun fishing the cottonwood canyons in years past.
Not a lot of size to the fish, but it is possible to have fun fishing without catching big fish.

There are a lot of great fishing spots in Utah, but I will not disclose particular locations.

I was just up fishing above Cedar City at Navajo Lake and Duck Creek.
It's tough fishing up there.
I have been going up to Alaska to Doc Warners Fishing Camp in Juneau.
The Silver Fishing is great. We caught huge Halibut too.

Nice Fish Skinner, how deep were they? I like Strawberry, this time of year they are kind of deep and I don't have a downrigger on the new boat...

You know what it says in the Bible?

Thanks, the Macs are anywhere between 65-120ft I caught all the Macs jigging. I use my downriggers for the Kokes. Strawberry is always a good bet. Here in another month or so, head into the bays with tube jigs for some big Cuts. Man I love smoked Macs! I put some in the food proccesor, mix with whipped creamcheese, a box of crackers and a cold beer.
