Ya my Subarus have never had the best mileage for a car, but it sure beats the 12 I was getting in my Tacoma. I've noticed they have lower gearing than a regular car bnot sure what the gearing is but when we went to Idaho this last summer we had our 05 wrx on cruise the same speed as my parents '10 accord. Their rpm's were nearly 500 lower than ours. Makes a big difference.

I shoulda sold you my roof bars while I had the chance Ben. Went biking today, came home and pulled in the garage forgetting the bike was on top. Needless to say I ripped both bars off the roof and dented in the back quarter of my roof pretty good. It really sucks! Even crappier part is I did the same exact thing with my wrx wagon. You'd think I'd learn. Hopefully insurance will cover it without my rate going up.

I also got my price for insurance today. Oddly enough, it is over $100 cheaper than my Tacoma per 6 months.

Lol I can't help but laugh, I'm sorry ha, just one of those kick yourself in the butt moments. If its an eligible dent i'd reccomend Dent Patrol paintless dent removal.

Ouch :( I've always wondered how the bike would fair doing that? The first car I had a roof rack with I would just open the sun roof to remember... this time I think I'll start parking the sti in the 3rd garage. The door is tall enough I could pull in with the bikes on.

Time for a receiver hitch mounted rack?

What body shop is doing the work? I have some damage from I15 that provo river construction is covering...

The bike has held it's own both times, even put a dent in the garage door trim (2x8 wrapped in aluminum) actually dented the 2x8. After it happened in my wrx we would put a stick note on the dash every time we went out that just said BIKE!!! We forgot about doing that again. My next house will have a third car garage with a tall door, hopefully a fourth door too! I don't want to put a hitch on the STI, it just wouldn't look right. I guess it would look more right then a huge dent though.

The last few times we have needed body work we had it done at Cascade Collision. The did a great job with our TT and WRX. I will take it by to them tomorrow to look at it. Hopefully I can get it taken care of somehow without my insurance going up.

What happened to your car?

again? didn't you do that on your last wrx too?

I could see how easy that'd be to forget... especially when you haven't had the bikes on the roof for a couple months. Good luck with a speedy fix. I've had good luck with cascade for body work, but for anything structural or mechanical, the worst experience I've ever had. I think they sub it out to other shops who don't do a very good job. But paint, body work, etc is great quality in my book.

Ya mine has all been body work. Nothing structural at all. I haven't had anything structural for a long time but when I did I took it to Whitlock's in south Provo. They do some great work.

I did that once with my bike on top of a Suburban I had. Ripped the seat off the bike and the Yakima rack and rain gutters were unharmed. Only did it once.

Just after they tore out the middle of the I15 underpass, the didn't clean off the I beams and a piece of asphalt fell on our hood. Left like a 1" dent. Martin's auto body on state quoted it at $620

i was driving on I15 2 years ago when they were doing the grind-and-repave right there through the S bends in provo. (before they decided to switch to lame-a$$ concrete) and after they got done rotomilling the 2" surface of the freeway, they ran their sweepers on the road but they missed about an 1.5" chunk and when they opened up traffic again the car ahead of me threw it up and it cracked my windshield... I was pretty pissed and called Staker and they said they would replace my windshield, but then I calmed down and decided accidents happen and I wouldn't press the issue. Besides a new windshield for a SuperDuty F-350 is only $60 to have replaced lol

I wish mine was 1 inch. Mine is more like 31 inches. I'm going to get quotes today hopefully. Let's all take guesses of what it'll cost. I guess it'd be easier with pics. It literally is about 24-30 inches, 1 3 inch crease where the rack got pushed, and 1 5 inch crease where the foot mounted to the roof.

Never updated this. The dent on my roof cost me 2800ish. Way more than expected. Got a whole new roof panel and everything.

But to stick with the theme of this thread I sold the STI today. Even with the dent and registration and everything else I still came out on top by $143 and i sold it to a dealer. There were 2 dealers bidding each other up. It was bitter sweet as usual but I'll be glad to get something not so expensive. If I broke something in that car I'm pretty sure it would be sitting there for a while.

I can't decide what to get now though. I need a truck, but want a car. Maybe I'll get both.
