Saw this while at Costco the other night.. Looks like a great compact way to have quite a bit of food. IIRC it was $40-$50.

Thoughts? Anyone used these at all?

I think I might pick one up for it's easily storability, and quantity of meals.. In the event of an earthquake or whatever else, it'd probably come in handy..

Now to prepare the post zombie apocolyptic vehicle of doom:D

One idea for a possible 'best' mode of transportation would be by rail. Two locomotives and around 2-3 cars would be ideal (I could break it down more if you want). It would not be hard to get a rail map of the whole U.S. or a crash course with some books to learn how to operate. There are also railheads into every large military base in the country, which are great re-supply points.
Trains have an extreme strategic advantage. Very easy to defend, can mow through anything, have plenty of storage, and can travel very long distances.
Long term self-sustainment is the most important aspect when thinking of the "endgame", this can easily be achieved with a couple locomotives and railcars.

Also very easy to ambush because they are on a fixed route.

Or by simply removing severla pieces of rail, then how are you going to get it back together. It might be good while the sh1t hits the fsan immedietly, but after rebels become organized were screwed. I prefer the ramming vehicle to get you to the sewers or undergroud tunnels I have previously dug for this exact reason:ugh:

Ya the train is only so good... You could have a rail car stocked with 4x4 vehicles and ditch the train idea when the time comes...

I'm just building a compound in the high Unitas. No need to be mobile if you can be self sufficient.

Have fun fighting the fire that I set in the foothills since I know your self-sustaning @$$ is going to be up there...

well all of our neighbors have food storage, we have guns :D

Some of us have guns, ammo (I've got 2500 rounds of .223 varmint tips) AND food (likely not enough for a zombie{no offense, Zombie} situation, but I'll get by for a while?). :D

I'd bet if you had something people would barter, though. I'm thinking canned food and ammo would be worth at least as much as precious metals in a situation like that.
