For the train peeps

Since I've tried to not follow what the Occupy idiots are doing....what exactly what shutting down the port supposed to accomplish?

These free loaders are pissed that someone else is willing to go out and actually work to build a good life, they want entilements, but as to what this will accomplish it will give them publicity on mainstream media and make them look like victims instead of thugs who should be arrested.

The OWS idiots were a nuisance but now that they are shutting down ports and they should be arrested. They don’t think or care about all the port workers, RR workers, truckers, store employees, small stores etc that they are taking money from. I also hate people that us their children in any kind of protest. I am ok with taking them to one but once you put a sign in their hand or have them involved in any other way I have an issue with it. As stated already this mother should be arrested.

... because everybody knows freight trains can stop on a dime.

She needs to have her kid taken away, stupid freeloading occupier.

I imagine the engineer had plenty of notice through the RR that the protest was going on, and that any real danger was already thwarted. -If this is in fact the case, then the mother was involving her child in something she believes to be of great cause.
I try to teach my children as much as possible, and would (if there is FOR SURE no danger to them) encourage them to stand up for our beliefs as well.
I don't see this as an issue. More of a mother teaching a child, even if she's an OccuWacko

I am sure that the 4 year old little girl understood the principals that she was there protesting about...

My children don't understand the workings of a motor, but they love to ride the pw's. You have to start teaching somewhere. The little girl may be learning that its ok to try and change your situation as apposed to letting the world dictate your personal outcome

Surely, you can't be serious. OWS is all about letting the world dictate. That's why they only attack the private sector, they want the government to take care of us because their parents didn't take care of them.

The tracks they block symbolize hard work, success, goal vision and individualism... everything OWS hates.

I did not mean at all to seem like I was advocating the OWS... I was trying to view her opinion, standing up for what she believes in.

You ASSume that he had plenty of notice.......but what if he didn't? Then are you putting the blame of the death of these protesters (including an innocent 4-year-old girl) on the RR company for not forewarning the conductor? That's a load of shit if I ever heard one. The bull-shit people "deserve" is getting old and annoying. Standing up for your beliefs doesn't mean "if you believe you should be a pop-star singer even if you suck, then protest about it".

I'm all about people standing up for what they believe in. But damn, leave your kids out of it. Almost as bad as baptizing your children. Let them decide when they're older which direction they want to take in life. :cody: :p

Maybe the gov't should step in and take her kid away, since they want the gov to do everything else for them. Wouldn't that be ironic.

I didn't say this at all... I said IF THIS IS THE CASE That the engineer was aware then its not a big deal...
However, If an entire group of people can assemble, and news crews have time to arrive It would be reasonable to expect that the slow moving train in the yard would be aware of the situation... and If not, it would be obvious that the train wasn't stopping, and a change in action could be made.

Can any of you with children tell me that you have never let your child drive on your lap? Never drove through the neighborhood with out your baby in a car seat? Never let your toddler handle a firearm?
I NEVER said I agree with the protest. I don't, and wont. But if a parent was able to make an educated decision about the safety of her child in a non-typical situation shouldn't she have the right? Don't we reserve that same right for our children?
