What function does this serve? Even for the military... why?

You ever try and stack Scepter cans? They tend to topple pretty easily. So if you're shipping large quantities, I would guess that this solves that problem.

It could come in real hand in the back of a pickup bed if you need that many cans with you I suppose.

Got it. What do they get shipped in from Scepter? Probably not these.... but then they're not full, either.

Standard cardboard box, 4 or 6 to a box as I recall.



I'm sure this is 100% related to shipping, particularly in air transport where everything must be securely lashed and perhaps even palletized.
