This weekend i spent the night at forest lake. A friend and i took our quads and unloaded at tibble fork. We rode to Forest lake. Odd thing was, there was no trail sign stating the name and or number of the trail. We drove up that dirt road for about 3.5 miles and then came to the stream but i did not see a sign posted anywhere stating that that was the trail to forest lake. Any way, on the way up i got swallowed by a dang gully that was about 3 feet wide, 2 feet deep and 6 or so feet long. The left side banked and i was not going fast enough and my back end slipped and down i went. Sprained me wrist too.
Once i got out, we finished the very rocky climb up to forest lake. We chilled there for a few minutes then headed north for a mile or two. We saw a nice lil pound and decided to make camp there. Someone else had all ready been there and left a crap load of beer cans so we cleaned it all up and took care of the trash. Later that night about 3 am, a bull ELK showed up and bugled at us and that kinda made me nervous since i have never seen a real elk let alone hear one bugle. He was about 50 feet from us and there were about 4 females in the area to. So we just left them alone.
When morning came we cleaned up and went up some trail that took us way way up to the top. It ended and there were two hidden waterfalls. it was very steep and scary. My quad in 4x4 with diff lock had a hard time getting up. I had to choke it almost all the way because the air is thinner up there.
We came down and saw about jeeps and yotas ready to hit the trails. they closed off trail 194 so they could use it just for themselves, so we had to go home. I did take pics and i will post them later..
