I was wondering what people use to edit and combine videos that are then uploaded to youtube. I am tired of uploading lots of videos to youtube when I could just combine them into one longer video. I have a dual purpose camera right now that does both Video and Pictures that I do all my videos with. It is a Canon Power Shot S5IS. It does a decent job and is all I have right now. I was curious if anyone had any ideas where I could download some decent user friendly video editing software. Preferably free if possible. Thanks in advance.

what computer do you have and what OS are you using? Windows Movie Maker comes stock on windows XP/Vista, and it's a free download for W7. iMovie is included with all Macs. Both will do exactly what you want them to.

FWIW, uploading a big video to YouTube takes FOREVER. It took me 30 + hours to upload a 10 min video.

WOW, either your upload is super slow or your video was HUGE. I uploaded an 11 min video (416mb) in about 10-15 mins and my upload is slow (qwest, 896K up :eek2: ).

To the OP, if all you're looking to do is combine clips and not actually "edit" them, then take a look at slideshow makers. Many of the decent ones will handle video just fine and that will also allow you to add any kind of transitions between clips. I used a slideshow creator to make this clip (this is from Ethiopia when we went to go pickup my boy)

my videos are around 5 GB, plus a super slow qwest upload.

Cool, I didn't know slideshow makers could handle video. Great video by the way.

Thanks for everyone's tips. All I am really interested in doing is shorting my videos to highlights and them combining the. Like all 4 obstacles of one trail into one video instead of 4 different videos. I did one with Picasa and it turned out OK. I will have to try the youtube one too. Going to Moab for Easter and want to post videos just wanted to make them easier to watch.
