Front Driveshaft

There has been a lot of banging and binding going on under the ultra-jeep and today I saw some play on the front shaft. It's been suggested to me that the most economical way of fixing it would be to take it to a shop and get the CV ends replaced.

Can anyone recommend a driveline shop that can do this? Or am I better ordering a new complete shaft from the dealer?

Call Six States in Orem, or I think there is one in Salt Lake too. They're awesome with anything with driveshafts, axles, and so on. You can count on them to fix pretty much anything with the drivetrain minus the engine. As long as your front shaft isn't bent they can fix it cheaper than ordering a new one from the dealer.

Ya six states in salt lake, plus they are right near your work (if you work at the same place). Just south of walmart on 1300 s. and 300w.

bag six states, i asked for a quote for lengthening my front drive shaft and they wanted like 140 bucks to do it, and my friend went there to see how much they would charge to set up his new gears in a ford 8.8 axle he was swaping in to his grand and they wanted 300 bucks and then more for extra labor and for any shiming they would have to do, total rip off, they might of been cheap but not anymore, i would go to tomwoodsdrive shafts, they are top notch might not be the cheapest but they are the best

Six States always gets my business, shortened and balanced my rear shaft last week for $80 and didn't even charge me for a new u-joint I requested!

I Also wonder if Six states is better in SLC and Orem then up here in Ogden. Everyone raves about them in SLC and orem, However I pretty much have the same attitude as my fellow Ogdenite. By the time they got done with my front driveline, it would of been cheaper to have tom woods build me a new one to my specs.

I defiantly recommend that if you live in or around Ogden or do not mind a drive, Tom Woods is the place to do business. You will get nothing but the best customer service from Tom and his crew, and great prices :D

Here here, my friend that lives up here too has had nothing but good experiences with tomwoods, and he's done lots of bussiness with them

I got a price quote of $265 to get the ends replaced at the shop we do business with (plus I have to pay our guy to R&R it). Does this price sound reasonable?

We also have an account with Six States too.

I don't know if or how cherokee and liberty drivelines are different but according to tom woods website Cherokee drivelines start at 269 with 5 shipping so for 274 you get a brand new one with their U joint in it. I would give tom woods a call and at least get a price.

i have always gone to six states they have always taken care of me they rebuilt my drive line twice for free cuz it was their driveline. Grs in salt lake also is very good

That's where I got the quote I have, they do all of our work but I just didn't know if the quote was above or below market pricing.
