How hard is it to convert a 70's ford highboy form drum brakes to disk on the front axel? I have heard that all you have to do is gather the parts from a late 70's truck (78-79) and everything will bolt on is this true or is it more involved? the truck is a friend of mine's, it's a 3/4 ton, not sure what type of axel is in the front? any infor would be great

Is it an open knuckle axle? If so, get the calipers/brackets/spindles/hoses from a late 70's-early 80"s chev 1/2 ton 4x4, and the frt hub/rotors/bearings from a 76-86 Ford 1/2 ton and put it all together.
check broncofix.com for a complete list of parts.

It's probably the closed knuckle D44HD. If it is the best thing to do is throw it away & replace it with a newer front end.
