front nine inch 60 hybrid questions

So I'm getting ready to install the currie 9" in the front of my yj. It came from currie with the outers of a CJ. I was told I could put 44 outers in the place of those as they are the same ball joint and size and stuff. So that is what I was planning on doing. I was thinking that maybe I would like to put 60outers on. I would like to have the bigger ujoints.

I know that the inner C's would have to be changed. Is this doable? 9" should be big enough around right? Could I just buy some 60 stuff and slide them on the end and weld up? (I don't mean to sound like it is a 5 minute project I knowits not) Thanks. Any other ideas?

My 60 has a three inch axle tube. Make sure your 9" does to and weld away. The thing is, that unless you find cheap stock outers and inner c's, you'll be into aftermarket stuff like a grand for dedenbear or crane. If you go with stock stuff then you have an eight lug front end that doesn't match your awesomer than words can describe, incredible hulk strength 8.8"

And since you want 39's, you should just get a 60 and a 14B FF

the stock dana 60 tubes are 3 1/8'' and the 78/79 ford bronco 9'' i used those are 3 1/4''. so the outer C just needs to board out to to 3 1/4. heres a few pictures mine i used dana 60 inner seals and made my own reatainer plates to hold them. for a line up bar i used a 1.5'' chrome HYDRO rod.
to make sure the bar was centered i found that the rod hiems from a D-5 dozer slip into the end of the tubes of the 9'' like they were made for it.

i made the short side to take a stcok chevy shaft and the long side will take a custom one. only problem i ran into is were the shaft would ride on the seal ( the OEM spot ) i need to have the step machined a 1'' or so deeper down the shaft. i kinda goofed on the messurements. the axle will be finished this winter.

will a 35 spline 60 shaft and a 35 spline 9 inch locker fit? It might be a stupid question, but I hear they are the same all the time. If I had a stock dana 60 inner shaft could I put it in a 609 with 35 splines (not counting length and stuff)?

If you're asking if the 35 spline 60 shafts will fit in the 35 spline 9" locker, yes they will. The only hard part is the seal location on the shafts as mentioned above, and getting seals into the housing.

i cant speak for spidertrax's housing's but the one im building will have to have the seal surface on the shaft cut a tad deeper down the length of the shaft. this is no big deal since the inner shaft is a few thousands bigger than 1.5''.

i think with carfull planing this can be solved. i really just goofed when i layed out the plate's. i spaced and went ahead and welded the seal plate's in before i had the C's and shafts in, my bad.
