2002 Double-Cab Tacoma 4x4 Prerunner TRD Off-road -- SOLD

Clean, low-mileage, 2002 4WD TRD Double Cab Tacoma with the factory rear electric locking differential (elocker). It has the 3.4L V6 and an automatic transmission. This truck has been my baby. My pride and joy. I was never going to sell it, but I've got the opportunity to pick up a rig that is my absolute dream vehicle and I need to sell my Tacoma in order to get it.

Originally a California truck that has only been in Utah for 1 winter. Only hint of rust is on the rear leafs and the front shocks (stupid Utah salt...). This truck is super clean and I've had plenty of folks comment on how clean it is.

These trucks run forever and this one is barely getting broken in at 120K miles. Full timing-belt service was done (using only the best OEM Toyota parts) at ~107k miles.

This truck started life as a 2WD TRD Prerunner and has been converted to 4WD using only the best OEM Toyota parts. This was an ALL BOLT-ON conversion. Nothing custom. No crazy welding. No crazy backyard fabrication. There are no surprises with this truck as it uses all original Toyota parts, just like the 4WD trucks from the factory did. I performed this conversion myself with the help of a buddy. We've both worked on offroad rigs for over 15 years and I've worked a bit of time around a local SLC area off-road shop as well. This work included:

*brand new SPC/LR upper control arms with brand new upper ball joints
*brand new OEM toy wheel bearings and seals (pressed in by Mark Miller Toyota)
*good used manual 4x4 hubs
*good used manual hub lockouts
*brand new CVs (Napa Autoparts)
*all new seals for CVs
*used front 4.30 diff (93k miles)
*used front driveshaft (93k miles)
*resized rear driveshaft (Gaylons)
*brand new OEM center shift console cover w/ correct rubber and nylon shifter boots
*used matching year correct auto transmission and transfer case (114K miles)

The cool part about the 4WD conversion on this truck is that I chose to use the OEM manual locking front hubs and manual "j-shift" style transfer case making this truck super unique, yet still 100% factory OEM Toyota compliant. (The manual locking hubs were available on the regular and extended cab trucks, but not the double cabs}

This is a solid truck, with no surprises or gotchas.

Other tasteful upgrades on this truck within the last 2 years include:

Safari Snorkel
ARB bullbar
SPC/Light Racing upper control arms
Old Man Emu springs and shocks
Alcan rear leaf springs
Front Range Off Road rear bumper
4.30 gearing front and rear (stock was 4.10)
Toytech diff drop kit
Bedliner in bed (~1 year old)
Replaced both cat converters
Upgraded headlight wiring harness with relays
"Big 3" engine wiring upgrade (bat-alt, bat-ground, engine-ground)
New Diehard Platinum battery
OEM Toyota Keyless entry with 3 keys and 3 FOBs
Air aid intake tube
Both cats barely a year old
Magnaflow cat-back exhaust approx 3 years old

**The BFGs are NOT included. They're staying with me.

Located in Provo/SLC, Utah area. Preference given to local buyers.

super solid truck at a killer price. This should sell fast. If I were to build another one, it'd be very similar to this build.

Are you keeping the tires for another rig or selling them separate?

That is yet to be determined. They might be a bit too tall for the new rig, but I haven't actually looked into it yet...guess I ought to. But I dont actually have the replacement wheels and tires for this truck yet, so if someone gets at me quick, I'll be much more inclined to include them with the sale of this truck. :)

Did you ever feel the E rated tires were too stiff?

I didnt end up taking them offroad as much as I'd liked too, but i'd say for the mostly unloaded, street driving I did/do, they're prob a bit on the stiff side. The few times I had the truck loaded up and off on the dirt and aired them down to 15-18psi, the truck felt great.

Bump for updated pricing and pics with the different wheels/tires set. As previously mentioned, I was keeping the BFGs--which have been removed. The wheel set on it now are alum alloy 16x6 from a Japanese Toyota import Cruiser. Tires are 255/85r16 Geolander MTs and are pretty much worn out and will need to be replaced. Price reflects this change.

Not trying to bag on anyone here but....

Yes, this truck is going to book lower than what I'm asking.... Its going to book as a stock, 2WD Prerunner. I'm sorry, but you are NOT going to get it in its current configuration for the "book" price. If you want it for the book price, I will give it to you in the stock configuration--stock bumpers, stock suspension, stock bed (not lined), stock intake (no snorkel--yes the holes would be fixed), and it will be 2WD.

I am not going to GIVE you a badass, modified 4WD truck for the price of an unmodified 2WD truck just because your bank books it that way. That's just not going to happen. I built it all myself, and I can just as easily UN-build it and sell the sweet parts off separately and then sell the stock truck for book.

Thanks for the interest so far.

^^^ well said. It always bugs me how people will half-heartedly offer half what you're asking. They figure "hey, it can't hurt to ask", but it's a total slap in the face to the seller, especially if it's their baby. I realize a lot of people here do that, but it sucks as a seller to see that. Frankly, I'm surprised it's still around at this price.

Any chance you still have the stock bumper and you want to sell your ARB?

Thanks Steve. I myself am always trying to get the best deal and the most bang for my buck and have in the past been limited to needing to finance 100% of a vehicle and thus limited to book pricing, but I know I've never tried to pull shit on anyone when I could see that the vehicle is CLEARLY worth more than the freaking book value. $14500 is a damn good deal for this truck and if nobody can pony up an extra $2k on top of the book value (I've got ~$6k plus of mods into it so they're already winning an extra ~$4k right there!!!!) then I will def be pulling parts off and putting it back to stock.

As to your bumper question....I actually don't have either of the stock bumpers, but I would def be willing to sell both the ARB front and the Front Range rear for $$ plus a trade of stock bumpers--I'm thinking ~$600 or so (maybe less for homies) for the front and $300 for the rear. And I would also consider selling other bolt on parts including: bumpers, suspension, snorkel, bed and IFS front 4WD (with stock stuff in trade of course.) I was thinking about making up a separate thread for that already actually. And this would be for locals only of course. :) I hate shipping big stuff and since we gotta trade, shipping kills the deals.

I've got a lead on a stock bumper. Let me see what my insurance says about my busted truck and I'll know more by then. Hopefully your complete rig sells before then.

Have you tried expo and tacomaworld? I've had far more interest about my truck over there.

When you get ready to start selling off fancy parts Give me a shout. If I have some cash I'm sure we could work out a few deals

I'm just about there man. Feel free to PM what you're thinking.

Honestly, the snorkel is the hard part as there's holes in the fender (and pillar), but if anybody has a nice matching silver fender that wants to trade and pay a few $$ for the snorkel, lemme know....
