I am a Toyota guy, but I have never really been a fan of these trucks. Mostly because of how UGLY that "custom cab" is. Why couldnt they have simply made it a crew cab? They went through all that time in making a "custom cab" with that UGLY hump on top, but they couldnt make it a 4 door??

Or better yet, why couldnt they just import the crew cab versions into the states with the others?

They were not made by Toyota but rather an aftermarket company (Fabco?) similar to the Trekkers built by Winnebago, etc. Building a crew cab would have been more complex and costly and these conversions already cost $4-5k when they were new in the 80's.
