The stubby link that runs north-south between a frame mount and the left side of my front axle - why is it there, and should I bother putting it back on after I get this new alternator in? I can't figure out what it's supposed to accomplish besides be in my way.

It is a torque rod that toyota put in place for axle wrap, most of us leave it out and cut the bracket off the housing for better flex

That's there to keep the axle in place while braking. Without it the factory push/pull steering becomes scary under heavy braking especially with lifted springs. I would leave it unless you have cross over steering trust me I learned the hard way lol.

Now that I know what it's called :D, a little googling tells me this is the consensus. Cut it out when I go crossover, otherwise leave it in.

Thanks guys!

We had it pulled off of my ladies 84 before we put cross over on, ohh boy thats some scary braking
