I went in to G&R Diesel the other day and was really impressed with all the knowledge Ron and those guys had.

He took me out to a customers truck and shown me that new Bully Dog PMT and how impressive it is.

Make a long story short, I had him put me down for one, and it is getting installed Thursday.

Does anyone else here have one, and how do you like it?

(I have a 04 PSD w/ 6.0)

I don't have the Bully Dog, but have an Edge w/Attitude on my '99 7.3L (I 'think' they're comparable but I really don't know the Bully Dog line at all--I'm sure the Bully Dog is cooler or something, though). I LOVE the ability to change the programming on the fly through the five steps. It's NOT slow at all on the upper settings. 7700 lbs should not accelerate like that. :eek::eek::D:D

If the Bully Dog is programmable like the Edge, I predict you'll like it a LOT.

Guy here at work just put one on his Mega, with 35's he breaks them loose shifting to second.

If I had the money, I would upgrade to the PMT. The Edge's computer is under the hood, the only thing under the hood with the PMT is the Pyro.

Search the Diesel forums for the hot\cold\moisture problems with the Edge.

Don't get me wrong, my Edge works great, but I would have purchased the PMT first had it been available.

Yeah from what I read the PMT is the cats ass in diesel performance. I am confident that it will suit me well, I am just curious if anyone else has one.

The biggest selling factor for me, was the gauges. It can show anything and everything that your computers read.
Coolant temp, trans temp, oil temp, oil pressure, egt, boost, etc.
I can see any 5 temps at one time, digitally or in an analog style set up.
Plus it has the option to add GPS navigation, and a rear view camera. That will work nice on my 38 foot 5th wheel.

I will report back when I get it and have used it for my real world opinion.

Oh and I like G&R because can do factory repair (Authorized) , and I have seen the work they do.
They are on 12669 South 125 East, Draper, UT 84020

They also do:
* Brakes
* Clutches
* Exhaust System Parts
* Fuel System Parts
* High Performance Clutch
* Injectors
* Performance Turbos
* Superchips
* Transmissions
* Turbochargers
etc.

They also have ASE, BSC, Ford, and Bosch certifications.

If you ever get a chance to go in there, talk with Ron Gillett. He is the man, and really knows a ton about diesel. He has been doing it for like 15 years, but he whole family has been doing diesel stuff longer. (He branched off of Gillett diesel).

The Edge A2 does all that as well, and can be added to existing Juice modules.
Out of curiosity, why did you go there when Gillett is a stones throw from Draper?

I think he said it also monitors fuel pressure on his common rail. Have to check on that one though.

Because G&R is less than a mile from my house. I am in Draper also.
I have had a few friends recommend Ron, and how he took care of them. I went into the shop met Ron, had a positive experience, so I went with his business over his brothers.

Ron split off from the other "Gillet" diesel because of some family issues. Too many hands in the cookie jar if you know what I mean. I have been to Gillet diesel and didnt nearly get the attention that I got from Ron and his staff.
I feel if I am going to do business with you and I have 100 questions, then that company should take the time to answer all 100 questions without treating you like an idiot. Ron did tht job well with me, and i am happy.
He has also helped a few of my friends as well and everything was positive.

SO I guess its just my personal preferrence. I am sure that there are thousands of people happy with the other Gillet place, but everyone has their prerogative.

The Edge A2 didnt impress me. A lot more work and a lot more to go wrong. I sold a few at 4wpw and the monitors in a couple of them went bad. When I asked our field rep that works on warranties he advised that they see A2's for the screens going out, and wires coming loose from harnesses.

The only wire the PMT needs is your OBDII port. It doesnt plug into any of your existing oem harnesses. It is also the easiest on the market to remove if you have to take the truck into the dealership for warranty work. Unlug it from the OBDII port, and pull the monitor from its docking station, and your all set. The BD programming wont leve any fingerprints on the pcm or ecu either. Oh and the PMT has a removable smart card so you can download updates, and personalized performance upgrades from their web site.

it might be too late but you should check this guy out. www.dp-tuner.com

He makes some bad ass tunes for the psd. Loved mine when I had it.

I have heard they make awesome chips. I have a friend who has one for his dodge. He asked them to make one specifically for smoke, and he got it. That thing smokes like a fricken chimney. They said they can do almost anything with a chip that a customer wants. Better egt's, better fuel mileage, insane hp, etc. they can do it.
For my specific wants I needed something that incorporates all the gauges too. If I had already invested the time and money into conventional Auto-meter type gauges then I would have probably gone with a DP.

EDIT: Scratch that, I thought you were talking about Diablo. They made the chip I was referring too.

They charge $1150 installed with color matched pillar mount.
That is for all parts and labor.

Not bad considering the unit costs 1000.00 alone.

You're doing a flow through muffler\cat with that chip, right? That much juice and every time you hook up to a trailer, you will run out of temperature before power.

I hated my chip until I did the muffler delete, and I ain't got a kitty!!

I had to put a muffler back on and you're 100% correct. Why the turbo can't be a muffler, I really don't know.

I am going to do the MBRP 4" stainless turbo back kit at the end of august. I am not going to run any of the "Modes" the Bully Dog gives just yet. I am buying that now because I dont have any gauges and I am getting ready to tow my new 5th wheel to Fairview. I want to be able to monitor everything while I am towing that load. If it gets too hot, then I will pull over and cool her down.

I wont be using any of the tunes until AFTER I get the exhaust.

I am going to get the cat-delete, and muffler delete pipes as well, I just need to find the right clamps so that when emissions time rolls around I can easily swap the cat and muffler back in, pass the test, then come home and swap them back out again. The clamps that come with the kit are guillotine style and they crimp onto the connecting pipe. I need to find those clamps that have the wide body, and a spring loaded tensioning clamp. Those style just hold both pipes tightly together.
I am going to ask Ron tomorrow about those clamps, and see what he says.

You will like that exhaust, very well put together. I really wish a usable gauge package was at least on option on these trucks, but the extra power from the chip is nice too!

Muffler delete and non-cat was easy in Utah county...... No diesel emissions!! :D My 03 dodge didn't come with a cat anyway.

I have heard this, but I have also heard that they will do a visual check under the cab to make sure the ct is there, is this not the case? If that is so, I just may drive a little further south of me for emissions.:ugh:

I sell the Bully Dog (40300) for $920, and have it in stock.

But even though I sell both, I still prefer the Edge over the Bully Dog. Edge dyno's all of their products and all of their settings. There is no guessing what kind of power you recieve on each of the settings. Edge and Bully Dog have the same features and cost about the same. So my preferrence is from a company standpoint. Edge is better established as a company - MSD owns them, and MSD has been around a long time.

Mine never came with a cat so non issue for me. And I think the shop just likes to hear my cummins with no muffler and silencer ring on the turbo missing. (You can hear the turbo at the tail pipe) :D
