Garage Door Help

So for some reason my garage door is acting really strange.

When it's cooler out it works just fine but as soon as mid day hits it won't work. It will move about a foot and then go back up.

It does it with the door disconnected as well so it can't be in the door tracks.

I used it just fine this morning going both up and down but this afternoon it won't work again. Any ideas as to what it can be? I know my sensors work just fine.

Are you getting full sun on the receiver for the optical sensors at the bottom?
I had to paint the inside of a pvc pipe flat black and stick on the receiver pointed at the transmitter cause the opener would think the door was blocked when full sun hit it.
A quick test is a paper towel tube...

^ what frieed said. when the sun hits my sensors at just the right angle, it thinks there's an obstruction. I have to stand in front of it to shade it so it'll close.

I'll give that a shot but even when I close the door manually with it disconnected the chain will still only go down a foot and then return to the top.

He said it does it even when the door is disconnected, so door material and the door binding should have nothing to do with it.

Are you sure it's related to temperature? If could be the chain is binding and it gets caught more easily when it's warm???

It's a brand new insulated aluminum door. Everything but the opener is less than a year old.

The only thing that makes sense is something in the opener track is messed up that i cant see.

I had something similar happen to my opener, but it was due to me screwing around with the settings. I figured it out by counting the number of times the light flashes when it would stop, then referencing the manual.

Well after trying for a couple hours just messing with settings and going through the electrical I decided to just replace the motor. Works great now.

My dad is a garage door guru... I am one in training since I could walk. My thoughts are that your sensitivity is not set right.
