Gearing questions?

What gears will bring me back to factory, or close to factory power levels? I have the 2.5L and 4.10's right now and with the 33's I just don't have enough umph to get down the freeway in 5th gear. Would 4.56's be right or should I go with 4.88's for a little better crawl ratio?

4 wheel parts has a gearing calculator (as do several other sites).
http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tirel_gear_ratio.asp

Across the top, pick out your gear ratio (4.11 is close)

across the left side, pick out your stock tire diameter

where they meet in the middle is your stock rpm (or should be close). Make sure you read the info above the chart since this gearing guide is for a vehicle in 4th gear at 55 mph.

Now, pick out your new tire size on the left, follow that row to the middle, and when you see the closest RPM, go to the top for your gear ratio.

Thanx Blacksheep.

Has anyone regeared a 2.5L with 33's? What gears did you go with and how did you like them?

hahaha...I regeared my 4cyl with 35s...I went with 5.89:p but since you have stock axles I would go with 4.88...you will regret only going to 4.56...but you will really regret regearing stock axles:D:D:D

I'm with those guys on going with the 4.88.

However, I"m also with supergper on doing an axle swap.

you're going to spend over $1000 on gears, and lockers. Don't forget labor costs.

If I had it to do over again, I would have swapped my axles right away instead of putting money into my stockers.

I was thinking 4.88's for my rig until I saw that chart, now I'm like--5.29's would be nice.
