Just got my complete kit, I am very pleased! Only got one fender on and fits great! 6" lift with 40" tires will be able to drop to 3-4" lift!

Bringing back an old thread, Finally got my Gen Right High Fender kit finished. Alot of work but very clean and well worth it! 3" Suspension lift 1" Body lift and 40" Tires, Check My Members Rides for pictures.

We installed one on a 05 LJ and it turned out sweet. The kit fit like dream and dead nuts on with every nut and bolt. The instructions are slightly off though it seemed like you had to cut about five inches out of the hood instead of the three stated. but the AEV hood does fit just right with the Gen Right kit. With the kit we slammed 35's stock suspension wich could use longer shocks but performes incredable offroad. The only other gripe was the fuel tank drags when coming off rocks..

Here's a comparison on the two different kits that nobody has brought up and HOPEFULLY doesn't start another playground bully war; Do you think the AEV kit would give you less trouble passing state safety inspection or the Gen Right Kit? I'm asking because I'm actually considering similiar mods and I wheel about 2000 miles in the dirt a year with the majority of it being middle of the road but I do often enough hit the 7 and 8 rated trails. My biggest fear though is that one kit will give me LEO hassles on the street as opposed to the other. I'm a traditionist so my ride is a daily driver.

Well Gen-Right offers up to a six inch flare with their kit, so as long as you get the right flare for your tire size it's going to be a non issue.

Maybe, maybe not, even at 6 inches it's still has a back cut on it in the front so it may or may not cover the entire top of the tire which depending on how the 2009-2010 inspection manual is interpreted may be an issue. Of course it might as well depend on where the axle is located as well. I've never seen the kit up close so I'm sort of guessing here by the photos posted.

I've seen DAA's LJ with the AEV kit and it looks very 'Highway Patrol' friendly. I don't think he'd be hassled at all with the way his is set up. You have the ability to run larger tires, but there is more body covering them, height wise. As long as you have sufficient flare coverage, I think you'd be fine. Mud flaps would be a good idea of course, to further avoid problems.

I've wheeled with Dave as well and have inspected the kit up close and personal. I think the AEV kit is well made and looks exceptional, however I think it's a bit over priced. That's not a lick on Dave just a lick on AEV based solely on my opinion which I'm 100% certain more than one person will disagree with me. It's the Gen right kit that I'm not certain about. They have good quality, I'm just not sure about the look and the big factor that I don't want to be a HPD magnet, nor go through hassles at inspection stations. Whether or not the GR kit will take more abuse or not I can careless about.
