Been riding the DR to work all week with the bags and new racks I fabbed out of 5/16" rod. They seem to hold the bags out of the tire and off the exhaust. Time will tell how they will hold up. They cost a whopping $10 including paint so if they fail, no big deal.

I'll get some pictures of them soon. I'm getting closer to having this bike sorted out.

Next upgrade will be some Cogent DDC's in the forks and some upgrade on the rear shock.

The stock suspension is pretty bad but I still love this bike. It is so much fun to ride. It's not fast or fancy and shouldn't be so much fun but I constantly find myself smiling every time I ride it.

Any updates?

Not really. I have just been riding it. I would really like to get some overnight trips on the bike but my work schedule has flipped upside down recently and I am still adjusting.

I did a ride over AF canyon to wolf creek pass then over soapstone basin to the mirror lake highway a couple weeks ago. The bike did awesome.

My rear D606 was shot and in preparation for our UTBDR ride I thought I'd change the oil and replace the tire. I put a Kenda K270 in 5.10x17 on the rear to match the front. Now I think I am fairly good at changing motorcycle tires. I got the front Kenda on in under 30 minutes. I had read about the DR's rear rim being a beast due to a "saftey" bead. Well, 3 hours and a pinched tube later, it's on.

Rode it to work all week and it seems pretty soft. The 606 leaned better in spite of being more "knobby" I think the compound on these Kenda's is just really soft. I really like the front, I'll see how the back does in a couple weeks after a few hundred miles of dirt:)
For my reference, bike has 5300 miles on it when I replaced the tire.
