GM 14 bolt and ARB

I have spoken to a friend about the ARB Locker for the GM 14 bolt rear end and I am told that they have had issues with the carrier, what thos issues are in conjunction with an ARB locker I am unsure. He did however mention that the part number has changed.

Has anyone had good/bad luck with this particular combo? I have a 1997 Jeep grand cherokee ZJ, it has a ford 9" and a HP D44 under it now and I am swapping the axles to a GM 14bolt and a D60 in the next week or so, adding Antirock sway bars and lifting it a little.

If the ARB is not a good way to go (Yes I have ARB's now), if ARB isn't the way to go on that axle, what do any of you reccomend? This is a daily driver for the wife, well not daily driver but she likes to drive it on the street when ever she wants.

Thoughts. . . ? Discuss. . . !

i havent heard of carrier problems with a 14 bolt full floater 10.5" ring gear (1 ton), i've heard of arb problems with the 9.5" semi-floater 14 bolt (3/4 ton).

You can get a full float in a 3/4 ton.

yes your right. officially though beginning in i believe 1981 the 14 bolt semi-floater 9.5" was the 3/4 ton axle. but you could order a heavy duty 3/4 ton with a full floater 10.5" 14 bolt. rare though because most people who would want a full floater rear usually wanted a d60 front as well so they just went with a 1 ton.

x2...

However, ARB has great customer service and warranty. If it is a slug, they will take care of it I'm sure.

But X2 on the rear Detroit... For ~$400 you really can't go wrong....
