Hmmm, I don't mind Golds. It does piss me off when they have broken equipment time after time. As long as they finish the Rec center by my house I won't be renewing my membership to Golds.

Least they haven't declared bankruptcy, twice, in two years......IE, Ballys ;)

Beat me to it. My younger brother managed a couple Bally's in NY. He was always bitching about upper management.

Gold's just opened a big gym here in Tooele at the old Albertson's. Perfect.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
So my wife goes on and off to golds, few times a week. About four months ago I guess they tried to auto pay through our bank and it was declined. They never said anything to us. She kept working out and no one said anything. They stopped the autopay, never saying anything to us. Two weeks ago we get a notice that we have been turned over to collections because on non payment. I had no idea. I ask them so send us a coupon book so we could start paying that way. We paid up the collection and all was well.
So last week we get this coupon book in the mail. I look over it and notice something wierd.
Every month the amound due was different. Ranging from $50 to $25. The due date was a little off as well. First I was mad because our payment should be like $30 a month. I didn't care to much because it would average out. Then I noticed that after about 10 months the due date became due every July 25. So I had one payment a year for like 20 years. And that one was only $25.
Sad thing is, I just asked my wife for the coupons so I could scan them into the computer to show you all my huge score and she said she threw them away because she got back on auto pay!
LAME!

I just have a problem with gym contracts, meat heads who don't rack thier weights, beat up and torn up equipment, meat heads walking around lifting in flip flops, people not wiping down thier machines etc. I have found that planet fitness and 24 hour fitness are managed and maintained much better and the equipment and caliber of members are much more welcoming.

The last two months of my membership litterally every time I went in there, some douche bag at the front desk would stop me to try and get me to renew. If it weren't for that, I probably would have kept going. Instead it became too much of a hassle every damn time I went through the door, so I started going to a new gym during my last month. Oh and then they kept pulling money out of my bank account my after my contract expired and took 45 days to send me a refund check. Yeah I don't think I'll be going back. Too bad, cuz the gym in south Orem is pretty nice.

yes, gold's gym is a crooked company. They haven't gone bankrupt because they charge people's credit cards after they've canceled, then they tell you that they don't have the letter you sent and you need to send another one, and that there's nothing they can do about the extra money charged because "they didn't have the letter" SO, they make a lot of extra money. They did it to my brother and it thought it was bad luck, and then they did it to me. I guess they're not all that bad as long as you're a lifetime member and never need to talk to upper management or that stupid company (that starts with a P) (I can't think of it right now) that manages their payments. end rant.
