See, we don't have that here on Magna's east bench. Well, we do, but you have to go into their back yards, where the Monte Carlo resides on blocks, to actually see that.

As opposed to having your last name and mother mary stickered on the back window over here in western paradise? :D

Food for thought, there is a -really- nice place in Sandy, right below Alta High School (~11200 S. 950 E.) that is a short sale for 230k. It just had the kitchen refinished, and new carpet, along with a killer yard. I know the x-owners, he got an amazing job working in Chile that he couldn't pass up, and after the house sitting on the market for about 300k for a few months they decided to do the whole short sale business.

If you are at all interested I can walk over there and get the info. from one of the neighbors.

Lewis, you'd fit right in up here(Cottonwood Heights)....There are 4-5 houses right around us in the $200K or slightly less range.

Sorry Guys, after doing what I do for a living, in West Valley for the last couple years, I say WVC is BY FAR the winner...er Looser. I have done this job in Glendale, Rose Park, Sandy, West Jordan, South Jordan, Midvale....pretty much the whole valley. West Valley is by far the worst crime I have dealt with. Yes there are some good neighborhoods, but as a whole, no way!! But Sandy/Draper has the most sex offenders!

I grew up in WVC. Am currently in the process of remodeling a house and moving to Herriman. I've had enough of it as well. When I started high school was when it seemed to start getting noticeably worse, that was like 97. My family and I have had everything stolen from countless Stereos out of vehicles, tool boxes out of the garage, My car was stolen from my work, they stole a trailer out from in front of my house last summer (nice little single axle 2-four wheeler hauler). My Dad caught a kid in my brothers XJ one night, chased him down and took out his knee with a bat. Originally lived off of 3500 s. and 4800 w., by no means a bad area. Now live in a newer area off 3500 s. and 6600 w. Not any better there. The amount of Graffiti showing up everywhere is ridiculous.

So I also say GOOD BYE to WVC and I will NOT miss you as well.

FWIW, when we were house hunting there was one tool that helped me weed out areas real quick. Check out www.crimereports.com - it is a google map with all police reports overlaid with where they occurred, and easily customized search-able fields/criteria. We looked at loads of houses in WVC, but every neighborhood was lit up like the Griswald home on Christmas when it came to the police reports. I didn't care if it were a few vehicle break-ins, or a stolen car or two.. But the assaults, sexual assaults, armed robbery, etc I was not stoked about and would take the homes in those neighborhoods off our list. I never considered Magna, as it seems to be the target of much ridicule and I'd never been there in my life. Our realtor kept prodding that there were several great choices.. 3 things played into finally looking into Magna for a home.. The crime at the time we were looking into a house that we really liked (that we ended up buying) had 1 stolen car 6 months prior; That was it. Of course there are the sex-offenders, but you can't get away from them it seems. 2nd criteria was the traffic to and from; 201 kicks ass over I-15 for travel (rush hour).. We were looking all over the valley, and even with my wife working in Sandy some days, she gets there in about 20-25mins. I get to work in 15 minutes from Magna to downtown. The other criteria that I was keeping my eye on was the earthquake map. The house we bought sits on a small rock bench that extends out from the Oquirrhs.

Magna certainly isn't perfect, but so far we really like the neighborhood that we are in. We are on a relatively quiet street (no thru traffic = the neighborhood children running a muck though.. Just as Carl what has witnessed in front of my house), one traffic light and we're on 201..

Keep your eye on the Crime Report website as you're looking around. I find it to be quite the helpful tool.
