Good vet in Clearfield area......

Does anybody know of a good vet in the Clearfield area? It's been long and coming but I have to put down my good bud. For the last couple of years he has been having issues with his hind leg and I can no longer drag this out. Every couple of months I have to medicate him and then he is good again for another month or two. I know he is hurting and I just can't do this to him any longer just to have him around for myself.

I would really like to find a good vet that will treat him with the true compassion that he deserves!

we had to put down the family dog last summer we went to fairfield vet clinic. They treat us well. One of the harder things I've had to do.

drawing a blank right now as to who owns Antelope AH, but I know I have met them through our association meetings. Not sure on which clinics they are at, but Drs Neil Moss and Ryan Cook are also both in the norther Davis area and are guys I would highly recommend.

My Sammy is getting close to. She is 11 and her back legs are starting to fail.

Not looking forward to it but I dont want her to suffer either.

Sorry man. Post up what you thought and if you would reccomend them

This thread SUCKS... mainly due to the fact that my 13 year old can't get up and down stairs anymore and it takes a while for her to even stand up. I have been avoiding this train of thought like the plague..

my brother takes his dog to Antelope and says they are good..

Like I said before this has been an on going thing. 3 years ago I came home to him limping and took him in to get looked at. I was told he basically has what would be a blown ACL. He got some pain meds and was fine for awhile, then it returned after a few months (close to year), got pain meds went away again for awhile. For the last year it had not returned. I knew it was still a problem but he didn't show an issue. Out of no where last Wednesday he just collapsed after coming inside from going out to do his thing. No limping or anything just straight out collapsed. It wasn't till Friday night that he started limping about. The diagnoses was again that his knee is blown and it could cost 1800~2000 bucks to have it fixed. He is now 8 years old and I just can't see spending that amount of money on him when he is that old. He is part Pit part lab, pits are not known to have long lives usually from 8~10 years while some do live to be up to 12. With me being laid off the money is just not there as well. I love my boy and I have no problem admitting that over the last week I have been crying like a little girl. After 3 years of dealing with this and knowing it is only going to get worse as time goes on I was going to call it an end. The vet talked me into letting him live a bit longer and gave me some more meds to help him out for now. So hopefully over the next couple of weeks the inflammation goes down and he lives comfortably again for another year or so. I will be going back again in 2 weeks for another check up.

All in all they were very nice and ran a nice office. I would have no problem referring them.

Thanks again everybody for the help and I'm sorry for opening a thread that brings up painful thoughts.

we take all our animals to Dr Moss in kaysville vet clinic... his address is 66 S Main in Kaysville number is 801-444-3770.

he is on facebook and likes to post his clients there along with problems and cures... he is very sweet.

when we had to put our pug down back in Feb we actually took her to the animal shelter up on Highway 89 and they were very nice and friendly and very reasonable priced.

I know how you feel about the crying like agirl.. its been 4 months now and I still shed a few tears and it wasn't even my dog...

Sorry to hear the stories about the loss of the pets, and the up coming loses. No question that is the hardest part of owning, and treating, pets.

I am glad to hear that things went well, given the circumstances.
