Goodyear Duratrac vs Nitto Terra Grappler

I am in need of some new tires for a 97 4Runner that will be used mostly on road but will also need to perform well off-road. So far I have narrowed it down to the Duratracs and Terra Grapplers. Who has had experience with these tires? What are the pros and cons of each. I have heard of concerns with sidewall strength on both types but want to get some other's opinions.

I had the Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 4 door Tacoma and they blow big time. Terrible wear and terrible traction. As soon as the road was wet at all, they would slip all over the place. If those are your two choices, the Goodyears are the easy winner.

I've seen the same behavior from my buddy's Duramax with the Nittos. They'd be one of my last choices. He got 23K out them and they were showing cords when he replaced them.

I also had the terra grapplers on GMC 2500, terrible tires! I had the alignment triple checked because of how fast they were wearing and I rotated regularly, 4-5k miles. Sold the truck with those tires on them @ 15k miles.
I have heard good things on the Duratracs and was going to buy them for my 4 door tacoma, but I got a killer deal on a set of BFG AT's that I couldn't pass up, still think I will try the Duratracs next time.

I must of had a good set of Nitto Terra Grappler's on my 01 Cummin's or they changed the compound since 05 LOL. The only crappy wear that I had was on the rear being how I was turned up a little;) Actually I would Suggest the BFG A/T's...I have them on my XJ and love them on and off the street!

those duratracs look mean...they seem way more aggressive than bfg a/t's, or any other all terrain I've seen for that matter. Does anyone know how they do on road?
