Do they have lots of scary info? Absolutely. But it was legitimately obtained and I can simply not use the internet if I don't want them collecting info on me.
so you recommend the government coming in and limited the information they collected freely?
I think it's foolish to look at that much information (and information = power) collected in the hands of one entity and not be concerned about how easily that info might be collected by the wrong people and misused. I don't mean to mock you, but I think if you're not worried about the Googly tentacles worming their way into every facet of your life, then you're not paying attention.

I've only heard about it, here and there. What does the technology entail?
No need to make it personal. The ammount and details of the info they have concerns me, but I don't think they should be regulated by the government. The government is already collecting all that info from me (some via Google, much more via other sources). Do I wish they weren't? Of course. I am quite aware of all the info they collect, but I don't blame Google one bit. It's a great business model, and I support a free market. If google took this info from me without my consent, then I would have issue with it.
If it weren't google, it'd be yahoo or microsoft, or anyone else who figures out how to make it better.
Yeah, not blaming Google at all. Just saying that I wish they were a little less pervasive, that's all.
