Driving home @ 2 am after getting called in to workin my lowered z28 1998 black camaro. Pulled me over for a license plate light bulb that was out. Ran my driver licences and let me go. He was very nice but I know the car is what did it at 2 am. He was just looking for a reason to pull me over. Oh well. The woes of driving a 20 year old Sports car.

Working odd hours gets you unwanted attention. If I get followed by anyone, I pull over and pull out my phone. I'm not breaking any law, no reason to follow me and look for a reason to pull me over.

I knew it was coming. Even if I pulled over I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled in behind me to see if I was ok. The car at those hours draws that unwanted attention.IMG_20180305_1834291.jpg

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but maybe your broken light bulb drew the unwanted attention. What did he say when you asked him about being profiled?

He was going the opposite direction of me when he flipped around so no way he saw the light bulb until he turned around and finally got behind me only because of a red light. I'd never say to a LEO that he was profiling me. Don't want to upset anyone. On driving it in the winter I live in Southern Utah so yes I drive it all winter.

I have been pulled over more than 100 times. I’ve had less than 10 tickets. Most of it was high school years, in a big old truck. Totally a profiling thing.

I had a cop follow me for like 10 miles once on the way home from the dunes.. pulled me over. He walked up the passenger side of my truck, around the front and then to my drivers window. He then told me he pulled me over for not having a front license plate.
I also got pulled over once on the way to the dunes for having a marker light broken on the front side of my trailer (middle of the day, not even night). I called him out on profiling me, and he agreed. He told me he was looking for alcohol and drugs with minors. I was a pretty clean cut and innocent Mormon looking kid, so he sent me on my way.

I haven't been pulled over since I sold the power stroke on 37s. Even then out of the 10 plus times I got pulled over, I only recieved one ticket and was in the middle of nowhere. Yes profiling is a thing. I've never been pulled over in any of the toyotas we drive.

Exactly. Since changing to a vehicle with a lower profile, I suddenly don’t need to be pulled over.

I don't know, the only time I've been pulled over was recently in my Raptor doing 80 in a 50 (construction zone even  I had just gotten on Bangerter and then passed a few cars, didn't realize I had gotten all the way to 80 until I saw his lights). It was a Sunday, so not much traffic and no workers, he gave me a verbal warning and told me to get a Yugo  I've never been profiled in any of my vehicles and my Tundra on 37s stood out, several years before that my Tundra on 35s stood out, etc. I know profiling is a thing and maybe I've just been lucky, but I doubt a stock-ish Camaro would be cause for profiling. I think it's more likely the time of night than anything.

Everything you drive is new and loaded, you don’t fit the profile.

There was a car in front of me 100 yards or so. He didn't flip around until he saw me. That car was stopped at the light as me. Cop came after me not him. I know it's a thing and it's funny. Once he saw me in my scrubs it was cool and we chatted but I have no doubt it was a profile deal.

I have worked at and driven to and from the same building for 18 years now. From my early 20's to now almost 40. I have worked 7am to 7pm, 6am to 6pm and 1pm to 1am. Many of those different shifts were in the same car through the same roads in Highland and Alpine in the same year. When I drive home at 1:30am, I get pulled over once a month and followed for a couple miles once a week. I have never been pulled over in the same car on the same roads on the normal commute times. In my case at least, it's the time of day I'm driving without a doubt. That is why I get so irritated and just pull over now. I get it, there is a much higher probability of dui's at that time, but damn, I'd think Highland PD would know my car by now.

AGAIN!! I got called into work at 145 this morning. On my way to the hospital. I am an RN and work in the cardiac cath lab. We take care of active heart attacks. Got pulled over with in 24 hours for the same thing. Same routine ran my licence for warrants and let me go. I had no idea how important license plate light are. WOW.

Time to buy a lame, unassuming car. :(

I rarely get pulled over in my Jetta, its newer and nice looking.... doesn't raise any eyebrows.

I wonder what would happen if when you get pulled over next time, you tell the cop how much you've been pulled over recently and you understand they're doing their job but this is too much?

I have to smile just because of knowing you and the good work you do.

I think you need a St George “friend of police” sticker for your back window. :D

I live in Hurricane and both times it was Hurricane police. I am sure the officers are hey did you pull over this guy. I was in a hurry since it was on the way to the hospital and I asked him "Is it the car?" He simply replied no just saw your light was out and you need to get it fixed. Then why run my licence for warrants? Give me a fix it ticket and leave me alone. The road I travel is patrolled by Hurricane police. Sheriff and UHP. I fully expected to get pulled over again on my way home@ 4am. Maybe if I am pulled over enough they will know who I am and then leave me be knowing I am a good citizen not some drug dealer or drunk.
