Grand Cherokee Rear Axle Swap.

Ok I'm looking at buying a used Ford 8.8 axle for the rear of my Grand Cherokee. Sence the Ford axle is 1 inch narrower then the the stock dana 35 what do you suggest I do. Wheel spacers? Im a little lost

I think Superior makes a super 8.8 kit that makes it stronger of course but also wider specifically to match the front jeep axle.

I'd look at as 1/2" further away from getting pulled over by Officer Tazer to have alittle chat about mudflpas and fender flares...

My old ZJ had an 8.8 w/ wheel spacers. They were 1" spacers on each side and it matched the front just about perfectly.

Without them you may have a hard time clearing the inside of the fender well.

Be sure and get the ones that bolt to the existing studs and come with new studs....the ones that just slip over the existing studs are no bueno.

also, make sure you get a 31 spline 8.8 w/ disk brakes.

Ok thanks for everyones help. Looks like I will go with the spider trax one inch spacer. As for Zombie, I have fender flares ha ha check out my pix on the members rigs forums.

I've run spacers on 4 rigs and they're fine. I have them on both axles of my TJ. Make sure and torque them down, and check them when you pull a tire.
