First off, what a great weekend... hidden away in the back country
of the Uintas (courtesy of Kamas local Tracy Evans)... not another
camper for miles... Great wheelin' great freinds, and of course the
love of my life, trail trailer!
Spent the day Saturday up American Fork Canyon with the US Forest Service and Trail Patrol, fellow Wasatch Cruiser member Jack Christensen, Sully and I did some patrol of the Forest Lake area, including a full garbage sweep of the area. We handed out a ton of garbage bags (Thanks a million Medsker and andy d)
Loaded back up Saturday afternoon and headed to the Uintas, spent a
great night in the mountains with some LOUD freinds, got up and went wheeling... Loaded the trailer back up to go stock up on supplies in Kamas... this is where it all the fun starts...
So I pull into Cheveron to top of my fuel... look at my passenger
front tire as I walk around... looks as if I had bent an axle.. WTF?
Closer inspection shows that 3 of my studs are sheared and the last
one is bent and half-way pulled out... there was a 1/4" gap between
the knuckle and the steering arm...
I pace it SLOWLY over to Tracy's house where we tear her apart...
get my spare knuckle and a rebuild kit coming from SLC with freinds (thanks a million Olly, Bryson and Ogre) and tear her apart... Watch the fireworks in PC at the best spot in town (thanks Tracy & Wendy), camped in Tracy's yard and reassembled this morning... Drove home like a champ
Things I am adding to my spare parts bag...
Clutch slave (since Olly stole mine Saturday)
Both knuckles (my old one is salvageable)
Trunnion bearings (mine was trashed)
Spare steering knuckle studs... I could have fixed this knucle if I had to, but I knew my spare was just an hour away...
Thanks again Tracy and Wendy (1/4 eliptic) for your more than generous hospitality to all of us.. I had a blast! I owe you guys dinner...
