In a jeep o_O.

2001 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo
4.0, auto, 175k mile's

My brother (chestonscout) bought this 01 grand Cherokee many years ago from some Mexican's that did a lot of ghetto work to it and then sold it to my dad but his health plummeted and rarely drove it before his passing but loved it..

So it's been sitting at my mom's and she didn't know what to do with it and I was wanting a 4runner or a xterra but decided to buy the jeep off my mom.o_O
It need's A LOT of work, but it's not going to be a DD or even a wheeler. Just a back up vehicle on bad snow day's and putt around in the mountain's and haul small crap type of thing.

Need's a right window reg,
rear glass wont release,
all new prop shock's
the ABS light is on and the fluid is black,
valve cover is leaking,
has a knock from the engine but not a rod knock and only at idle,
full service but scared to change the trans fluid sense I don't know when the last time it was changed.
and needs new tire's.

So I'm after a good used set of 255/75R17 m/t or a/t tire's

think my mom had the crank sensor replaced when it was starting intermittently, but is there anything I should be on the look out on one of these?

Welcome to the flock :D.

My Son's ZJ has always had a little bit of a knock at idle. I don't know what it is, but if I was forced to guess, I might go with piston slap. He's been driving it almost 8 years now though and it's never gotten any worse so I quit worrying about what it might actually be a long time ago.

I had an XJ with an intermittent starting problem, and a new CPS helped a little, but not always. I removed the connector and hard wired the sensor and that took care of it.

Sure. A daily driver only. Soon, one tons, atlas, roll cage etc.
hahaha, But it's not even a daily driver. lol
I'm not apposed to building another rig, but I would want something that had at least a frame.

plus I'm building the race car...so that takes all my money. :D

I took it home yesterday and when I went to leave work it wouldn't run for more then 2 second's before shutting off and the no key light on the dash came on. it did it twice then I switched key's and it stayed running.
guess these key's have a chip in them?

and for the abs light and brake light, the fuse under the hood was pulled and put in the slot below it so I put in back in and the brake light turned off but the ABS light is still on.. will it need to be reset or are there more problem's?

and the blower motor only work's on high and none of the vent's change position..

this wire is hanging down under the glove box but I can's find anything apart from something missing from the heater box ..any idea's?

On my 02 Grand the ABS light came on and it was the wheel speed sensor on the left side. The wire was broken where it was rubbing on the ball joint stub threads. If you get the right code reader you can read out the ABS codes. I can look at my heater box to see if the plug that is dangling is the one that connects to the heater box resistor block that drops the fan speed.

I have replaced the blower resistor in my LJ twice now, using factory part each time. Wanting to say it was about $50 at the dealer but I got the last one online for more like $35 or something.

Replaced the blower resistor and the fan is now operational how it should be.

None of the vents change but for some reason it is now blowing out of the defroster instead of on the floor. Lol

I can't seem to find where that motor thingy is that moves the flaps.
From what I've seen online it's right behind the glove box but the only thing there is the hot/cold exchanger.

If it is like an XJ the flaps are vacuum operated and the defrost vents are the default location so it means you have a vacuum leak somewhere.
