half door topper trouble....

ok I got the toppers put on the half doors and something seems strange... what is the problem here? any suggestions?

I know the 87 yj has an additional plate that goes on the door that goes out a bit near the back but I don't think it covers this much of a gap....

wow, something sketchy there. I've got some other frames in the garage you should check out tomorrow. They might work with your soft parts? Those frames look "questionable"?

Thats what we are thinking... I just need to find someone with a tj with half doors to compare to... anyone?
