Just got done programming my Yaesu radios to match each other. I have an 1802 and a 2800 and couldn't get Chirp to work with the 2800. Finally broke down and bought g4hfq software. It worked awesome and now I have two radios that work (thanks to Brett and Matt Davis for providing the repeater list!)

Wondered if anyone else had issues with Chirp with a 2800 or another radio? Maybe my programming cord isn't optimized for Chirp or something? Any input?

I have the software/cables for both the Yaesu 2900 and 250. I downloaded the repeaters on 3 of each model very quickly. I also bought some Baofeng's with repeater software cd/cables off of Amazon, and couldn't ever get the software to work, but I successfully downloaded off of chirp. I ended up not liking the Baofeng radios, so I sent them back and bought the Yaesu 250's instead.

About to install another 2800 in Matt's Jeep (to replace the 2600). Not sure what software I have...I'd better check the old laptop before I turn it in. Also have that repeater list programmed in the 2 Wouxon's and the Baefong (sp?)

I had trouble getting chirp to work on a mac but was able to get it working on a windows 7 box. I bought a cheapy cable off amazon for my Baofeng UV-5RE. I used this list and programmed in all of the 2M repeaters listed. I've scanned my presets and have only heard chatter on 2 of them so far. I'm a super noob though with ham so I don't know what is used in the area.

Maverick- I'd love a copy of that list and can share it out via Google Drive or DropBox if needed.

That is the list I used, but grouped with linked systems. http://utahvhfs.org/rptr.html

I'll correct my post above.

I used commander for my Wouxun and Chirp for the Boufangs. Once I update my lists, I'll forward them to you.

EDIT: updated. I'll send an email to the folks I have emails for.

I did a couple Baofengs and a Kenwood 281 all with chirp. I did have to download drivers for the cables before any would work. Now I'm excited to go play with it.
Chirp has a query built into it that works great. It opens RepeaterBook and lets you select by County. I started mine with the Wasatch then added for around St.George. SDARC linked repeaters are on my list to add next too. I'm planning to pay dues to SDARC too to help support the cause.

BTW, the Android app for Repeaterbook is fantastic. It has native support somehow for ICOM and Yaesu where it can transfer settings direct to your radio. It works generically by listing all the repeaters in the area around your GPS coordinates.

I think we passed you on 8th west in West Bountiful last night about 5:45 or so? You were southbound and I was in the JKU. I'd be up for hosting the tuning event at the house this afternoon if there is interest. I think my CB is good but I'm not sure how much I trust my "skills" with my SWR meter. It'd be nice to get verification or make some adjustments :D

I was kicking around pulling some rifles out but it's probably wise to save my powder still. (still can't get Varget anywhere)

My computer looked for the driver, loaded it, (didn't work) and then I manually loaded it. (didn't work) It seems the Prolific adapter doesn't work with 8, only 7 and xp. They don't sell one for 8, only RT does for $50. I'll have to use an older machine for now.

Please let me know if you have found a way to get the Prolific 2303(?) USB for the Wouxun/Boafang radios to work with w8.
