With all the rain a few of us thought we would go check out the HTT and make a full UT adventure out of it for the weekend...

Our plans were started by Scott presenting a desire to head down to Ephraim Friday afternoon to camp, wheel HTT Saturday morning and then hit Yuba Lake on Sunday. He already had some interest within his circles of friends and when he came to me I couldn't resist another chance to be on that trail in 2014... so we got things rolling via the Bush Eaters FB site.

Since I was just down there camping for the 4th of July weekend, I found an amazing spot that allowed us to camp 10+ with trucks/trailers on a secluded surprise field just min up Ephraim Canyon. Sometimes the hardest part about an adventure is the stress of accommodating everyone and when the shoe fits you wear it!!! This spot allows cars, trucks, bikes, campers, trailers... you name it!

We passed out the navigation coords and links to all that were invited and low and behold it was all ours that weekend and I can tell ya I'll def be back! There's a fishing pond min away, there single track out the back door, there two track wheeling trails for 100 of miles and more down firewood that you could ever imagine.

The nights were not cold but around mid/to high 60's... def nice camping weather and perfect for chillin with friends by the fire! I was smart enough to bring some fogger spray to make sure we were not eaten alive, but who knows if it worked or not cause it was pretty un-eventful with the bug scene.

Sat morning we rolled out to the trail for 10am and pretty much took our time getting lunches ready and meeting up with additional friends in town. We were rollin 5 strong on the trail and were very well equipped and made short work of all the obstacles. It was the 2nd most dry run I've ever had on the trail, but it did not disappoint us in anyway!

Luke - Red 4Runner, 37's (1st timer)
James - Red Jeep LJ, 40's (1st timer, made Gordy's launch!)
Ryan - Copper FJ40, 40's
Riley - Green Yota, 42's (1st timer)
Scott - White YJ, 42's

We rolled out of the trail via the fire roads around 6pm and considering 3 of the 5 of us were 1st timers on the trail that was amazing feat to have everyone driving out on their own power before dark... and were not talking the run of the mill powder puff run, we chose to take the harder lines the whole way through!!!

We got back to camp did a few high fives and discussed what an amazing day we had... but that shit wasn't gonna end there! The folks with licenses decided we needed to continue this adventure out at the fishing hole, so out came the trail 110 (in low range) for some scouting of the pond to find a good spot to drop in the lines! Of course we also loaded up the support crew in the buggies to quickly follow suite. We had about 2hrs of daylight left and ended up walking away with 4 nice keepers, ahhh dinner and another amazing fire was calling our name!!!

Fast fwd about another hour and we freaking feasted like kings (and queens) because we had a raging fire and a plethora of freshly grilled goodness to pass around the fire! I can't express the overwhelming feeling of life amazement we encounter on our trips! We all took trips on the motorbike that night and listened to tunes until our spirits decided we had enough! I think most of us will not soon forget this trip and I must say taking a few min to sit back and relax while in the moment was the highlight of the night (or maybe boogying to tunes by the fire while swinging poi).

We woke up Sunday and started with a huge breakfast burrito - camp style cause we were headed for a long day at the beach! I had never been to Yuba lake, but I was def game to go jump in the water! The group I was with were fully versed in what Yuba lake had to offer and came prepared with a paddle board and a kayak, so I sat back and followed suite all day! Its an amazing trip leaving the camp cause you get the amazing view coming down Ephraim canyon and then heading South to Manti and then north on UT-28 to the state park! I wanna say we rolled back of the beach around 4:30 quarter to 5 to make the 1.5 hr drive backto the SLC area! If you've never been down to that lake your def missing some fun! You can park right on the beach with your rigs ($8/day pass) and it offers some amazing relaxation on a relatively quite body of water, which is amazing for furry friends, swimmer's and paddlers!

Great Report thanks Ryan! You really nailed it, this trip was just a good time and relaxing. I don't have many pictures from the day at Yuba but what a way to end the weekend tailgaiting on a beach with a kayak and a ducky! The campsite that Ryan found back in July is every bit as good as he says it is I highly recommend checking it out. Hanging Tree Trail went so well thanks to great driving, spotting, & very capable rigs. It really is a fun trail. I uploaded all of my "high quality" iphone photos to photobucket if you want to check them out :)
