Heading out HITR in Escalante

Has anyone explored all of the spur roads off HITR road from Escalante? I know there are trailheads for Spooky and Peek a boo off one of the spur roads, but I plan to explore every open road off of HITR road next week while I am down there. Anything in particular I should plan to see along the road? I plan to hike Calf Creek Falls Wed, then head out HITR and camp on the trail the rest of the week while we explore. Peek a Boo and Spooky are on the list, as is the hole, but what else should I look for? Anything interesting in the Egypt area?

I appreciate any input!

I don't have any beta information to share with you at my fingertips, but hiking to the Golden Cathedral is most spectacular. Also, Zebra Slot is a short hike off the road toward the beginning and offers some amazing photo potential.

Have fun and take lots of pics for us. Orviskrawler and I drove right through there on Saturday. Definitely take a water filter/purifier to Calf Creek. There will be lots of dumb people who didn't bring enough water who will rely on your water filter.

There's a third slot past peekaboo and spooky (brimstone?) but I've never been there. Coyote Gulch is also off HITR road. You can also hike upper calf creek falls, which is above the lower falls. Also check out the boulder mail trail if you like hiking.

It's a LONG drive, but we really enjoyed driving to the end of the road and hiking down the hole in the rock to swim in Lake Powell. That was a blast.

Here's some video to get you even more excited:

Thanks Steve! We are planning on Upper Calf Creek Falls, Lower Calf Creek Falls, Zebra Slot, Peek a boo, and the Hole. We won't fit through Spooky or Brimstone cause 2 of us are large in stature and can't fit through a 12 inch opening. We also plan to hit the Batty Pass Caves, and explore every mile of dirt road that is open to travel.

If there is time, we will hit Broken Bow arch, and some other stuff I highlighted on my maps. Just waiting for my BIL to show up so we can hit the road.

This is a test run for June when we do the Halls Crossing side of HITR trail. I need to figure out how to cut down the weight in my rig. My jeep is squatting and leaning to the PS. I will likely call Teraflex when I get back and get a quote for some new rear springs that can handle more weight.
