hey guys sorry to post this here, it's hardcore lame for a site like this, but fullsizechevy.com has nothing and i need info and fast

i have a 97 1/2 ton (DD duty) the blinkers wont click or do anything... i checked fuses, connections, replaced the flasher and still nothing

when i turn on the blinker, the blinker lights outside just turn off.. instead of it going on and off it just stays off....... the dealer told me it was the switch.......turns out they want 350 for a fawkin switch is it really the switch or do they just want some sucker to pony up 350 for a damn switch?? the kid at the counter kinda chuckled when i **** my pants

i need to drive my truck and i hate dealin with pigs for something i know i have a problem with......

sounds like bad blinker fluid, try draining, flushing, and then bleeding the blinker system. :D:D

Actually have you checked the grounds? if you want to see if its the switch or not just find the harness under the dash disconnect it and jump power to the blinker lead. If it works, bad switch if not its something else.

I would say that Yes it Could be the Switch, But I couldn't tell you for sure without inspecting the wiring and all. I just replaced the switch in My roomattes older Ford Car. With his Car the Headlights did not work unless brights where engaged on with the switch, Clicking the Brights off shut off the headlights. I was fortune enough to be able to get a switch from a junkyard.

You still know how to use hand signals for turning ;) right?

Edit: Actually until you get it fixed I guess you could just manually flip your switch back and fourth to give the appearence of it working properly :)

My 94 did the same thing, and it was the switch. Mine was just worn out, and was also screwing up the wipers.

I recently had something similar on my '99 Dodge, I was towing a trailer that wasn't wired right and it fried my turn signals and such.

In checking it out, it was the signal relay, it basically a huge fuse, in my dodge there was two, one with the regular fuses and one under the hood. It was pretty simple to fix once I figured out what it was. I think the relays were about 10 bucks or so... Not to bad, I think I picked them up at Autozone.

I hope this helps,
Good luck...

Also, check to see if you have a trailer plug in the rear that may have become damaged or has a shorted plug stuck in it. Sometimes if the trailer plug wiring gets hosed it can cause the whole system to be horked up.
