My XJ is having a problem, when it is idling it will suddenly drop RPM and almost die, but it won't die and then the RPM's come back up to normal. It does it most when it is in gear and I come to a stop, I have replaced the AIS motor and check the computer for codes, there were non, what could be wrong?

The Jeep is a 91, Auto, 4.0, 175K.

Thanx

Could be a few different things.

First, check your throttle body and clean it out... If it is descent and clean, then check Fuel filter and Fuel pump. Also check for vac leaks. Leaks will cause poor and erratic idle problems. If all your vac lines are good and sealed, but it could be various sensors.

Good luck.

Fuel filter and fuel pump are o.k. I think, I just replaced them.

No vacuum leaks that I could find, actually I had the techs at LandRover, were I work at, look at it.

I just washed the motor off, and then this started happening?

Did you check the Distributor for water?? Pull it off, wipe it out then spray the inside of the Cap w/ WD40. WD40 will displace any water.
